On Nigredo:::
“The blackening is about depression, the melancholia, that is often the initial stage causing one to slow down and examine life, that brings one into therapy, … The encounter with the shadow is invariably experienced as a mortificatio: dark shadow aspects of the Self have to be confronted and assimilated into consciousness; the feelings of guilt, worthlessness and powerlessness have to be suffered, taken on and worked through. As a prelude to resolving conflicts and warring elements in the psyche, a cleansing process was required involving an examination and withdrawal of projections. The nigredo stage was known by the alchemists to be dangerous: poisonous vapours of lead and quick silver (mercury) were generated or the vessel itself might explode due to over-heating. Safety apart – the alchemist, paradoxically, had to observe the value of patience in order to move the work on”

Monday: Moon in LIbra
17th
- art by Ascentional
After Plutos 6 month retrograde, the Dark Lord goes Direct and the dragon wakes. As in the nigredo phase of the alchemical process, Pluto requires incredible patience. Change never comes over night. First is our intention to change, then the long road to healing unfurls in front of us with many detours to follow. When Pluto goes direct, we can see the demons in our shadowy depths more clearly, allowing us to name them so we can better work with them. A supporting transit of the day is the Moon trining Jupiter, assisting us with a copious amount of right brain, intuitive wisdom. Today, Gandalf walks by our sides as we enter the depths of Mordor. Don’t be scared…again: the White Wizard is by your side. Seek his council.
Tuesday: moOn into Scorpio early morning
18th
Extending further into Pluto’s realms, the Moon moves into Scorpio today in the early hours. Often, this mOOn brings us face to face with the worst in our being. There is a point to this. Scorpio/Pluto relate to our sexual potential–the kundalini serpent who dwells in disguise at the bottom of our spines. We all have our own issues with our sexuality. As misunderstood and abused as it is in our world, it is up to us–the Alchemist–to bravely face the Truth of Naga, and transmute it into higher vibrational forces. Perhaps, instead of squandering your seed, you learn to circulate your sexual energy throughout your microcosmic orbit. Maybe, when desire coils its body around your rational mind, instead of acting impulsively on it, you sit on a cushion and explore it in more depth. Scorpio also relates to facing our fears and limitations. Sexual experimentation could be a wonderful way of going about doing this. Tongue in cheeks anyone? (ewwwwwyyy). The second of seven squares between Pluto and Uranus also occurs today. Translation?::: Face your deepest fear and experience the greatest breakthrough of your life–if you don’t, well…it won’t be through, it will be down.
Wednesday: Moon in Scorpio
19th
In the oily wake of the darker shades of Monday and Tuesday, the mOon remains in Scorpio and passes over Mars (its traditional ruler). In our regenerating skin with fresh energy pulsing through our meridians, a new desire to be alive is available for you to align too on this fine Wednesday. Within the excitement and self focus, it is likely to have a few disputes with other human beings (moon squares venus also). Stay rooted, stay excited, keep breathing deep, and hold your ground without barking or raising your voice. Frustration only leads to anger, and anger slowly boils into hate. Avoid this crimson tide of harmful emotion!
Thursday: MoOn into Sagittarius early morning
20th
One of the greatest aspects of being human is our mutability. We are hardwired with the capacity for wonder. Being able to wonder and question and seek gives us an amazing advantage over the rest of nature. This idea is held within the Archetype of Sagittarius. And as the Moon moves into Sag today, it’s as if we crawl out confidently from the Underworld, with a token of wisdom glowing golden in our pockets, looking to sky, knowing something we never knew before. We are kinda like caterpillars contemplating pupation. Maybe this metaphor is off. Perhaps we have already been in the cocoon and today is when we grow new wings. Today is the day where you set me free!
Friday: Moon in Sag
21st
Thank God it’s Friday. And what a Friday it is going to be, with the Sag Moon opposing Jupiter. A quaint alignment for a Friday night, but not without caution. You may feel the need to release your consciousness into another realm. Whether it be through yandi, booze, dimethyl or dreamz, the need will be present. Be careful with this energy. I suggest using it to dream up your future. Hope! Know that a better day and way is just around the corner. Don’t listen to George Carlin when he says, “Fuck hope.” (he’s just a sarcastic dead New Yorker anyhow….that is funnier than any New Yorker I’ve ever met [ nothing against NY, just sayin’])
Saturday: MOon into Capricorn early afternoon
22nd
Oh, how the seasons change. Today, the Sun moves into Libra, thus greeting the Autumn Equinox, and the Fall season in the Northern Hemisphere. Changing leaves, lil’ nips of cold, the year’s first fires, and–of course– death. The Fall is a time of letting go, harvest, and preparation for the long winter that is coming (depending on where you live of course). WIth the Moon now in Capricorn, creating a 1st quarter square with the Libra Sun, the question rises: How is your Virgo New Moon intention from the 15th being tested? Make sure you don’t fail. The world is ending remember? We only have so many more Moons to experience. Grab your staff and journey to your favorite power spot, charge it, energize yourself, and for Gandalf’s sake, win this battle!
Sunday: Moon in Capricorn
23rd
With the Moon still in Capricorn and Sun/Neptune making a tricksy quincunx to each other, I feel that all I can say about today is: (SILENCE). Spend it alone–or as much as your can. Chill out, reflect, dream, and for Gandalfs sake again, put a bird on it!
