Venus turns to the Sun

Venus turns to the Sun
“The ancient Sanskrit legends speaks of a destined love, a karmic connection between souls that are fated to meet and collide and enrapture one another. The legends say that the loved one is instantly recognized because she’s loved in every gesture, every expression of thought, every movement, every sound, and every mood that prays in her eyes. The legends say that we know her by her wings-the wings that only we can see-and because wanting her kills every other desire of love.
The same legends also carry warnings that such fated love may, sometimes, be the possession and the obsession of one, and only one, of two souls twinned by destiny. But wisdom in one sense, is the opposite of love. Love survives in us precisely because it isn`t wise.”

….there is a portal slowly opening.  Shadows playing tricks on our minds and messing with vulnerable hearts.  Love “outside” of us is changing.  Novelty of Love is increasing.  Old ways are dying, new ones being born.  Same true for our Loves. Curiosity awakens in the collective. Venus–as conduit of Divine Love on Earth–is demanding an upgrade.  There is also an echo in the ethers which sounds something like: “Be wise with your heart, be wiser with your mind, become an active participant…..”

Venus Retrograde In Gemini

On May 15th, Venus will go retrograde at 24 degrees Gemini. You can probably already sense something already.  A shift in perspective? Values? Your relationship? If so, its because the cycle has already begun.  We are in the Shadow period.  We entered it on April 11th when Venus was at 7 degrees of Gemini.  What is the shadow? It is the farthest back a planet will go in their retrograde motion.  When a planet moves into a Shadow, the premonitions of what is to come begin.  Subtle yet remaining profound.  So what is this Venus retro period all about? Karmic Alchemy is what I would call it.

Karmic Alchemy

When a planet goes retrograde its energies redirect.  This doesnt always mean inwards–though I feel the overall movement of energy does trigger deep reflection, its not necessarily just an inner celestial experiment.  As an example, if money has been sluggish, when Venus goes retrograde (depending on where in your chart etc…) the flow will switch; it will no longer be sluggish.  That would be the Taurean side of the Venusian coin.  In another example: If you are in a relationship, the energies will redirect and you will reflect deeply on the nature of your connection with your beloved.  Many times during Venus retro periods this meditation will be triggered by another person, another Soul who you can’t shake from your heart.  A fated and karmic connection. This is the Libran influence of the cycle.  Either way, it relates to Love and how it comes and goes.

…here a lil’ Libran gift from her side of the coin:

Venus retrograde marks the beginning of a Venus cycle.  Its like a New Moon.  When she turns towards the Sun, she slowly begins to fall from her hypnotizing Evening Star position in the West and heads into the darkness–the Underworld phase as some would call it–soon to emerge days after as the Morning star in the East. This passage is called the Inferior conjunction in the cycle and relates to the birth of Venus and the Transit of Venus to the Sun you have probably heard about (I’ll talk more about this in future blogs).  As Venus heads towards the Sun in her retrograde fashion (respectively May 15th until June 6th) it is a powerful time for release.  Whether it be old habits or old lover’s, the immanence of this necessity will be blatantly obvious.  You won’t be able to ignore it.  It has a fated quality to it.  The Universe gains for control.  And so we must accept, continue to reflect, and watch it all unravel in its Divine perfection.  Always, years down the road, in retrospect we will be able to see the perfection.  Just not always while we are in it.

Now for the Alchemy part.  Old patterns die hard; as do profound relationships.  But what needs to be understood is that nothing is dying, it is just changing.  Energy cannot be created or destroyed.  It just changes forms.  Remembering that Venus relates to Love, Beauty, Symmetry and Balance, we can see deeper into the universal lovliness actually happening.  If we can fully remember and stay connected to our hearts during this cycle, unattached, watching, remembering what Love actually is, then we will have the capacity to evolve light years throughout the cycle; if we forget this, remain attached, and give our power to the things we love and the people we attach love too, it is likely misery will be knocking on your door.  So stand open, be alert for the signs, don’t ignore connections and most of all: “…wisdom in one sense, is the opposite of love. Love survives in us precisely because it isn`t wise.” A Koan!

The Bigger picture

I am quite aware of my omission of much of this Venus cycle information.  I didn’t talk about the Transit of the Sun and its implications.  I didn’t mention the implications of her birth as a Morning star, nor did I talk about her stationary Direct implications and what happens once released from the whole cycle. Also, this particular Venus cycle has a special meaning to many cultures in the world, including the Maya.  I plan on exploring this with you too.  So stay tuned….and stay open to what/who awaits you in the blissful days to come.

And here is a tune to get you excited.  A sigil.  A prayer.  A stir.  Rising Appalachia:

Love,

sOma

With the lights out…..(Venus opposes Pluto)

With the lights out…..(Venus opposes Pluto)

….Transit of the day: Venus in Cancer opposes Pluto in Capricorn at 5 degrees!!!….

This transit only happens once a year.  Last year it was on May 23rd, next year it will be on August 15th.  And so today, we experience it anew.  Pluto, the Lord of Everything in the Shadows  is creating a pressing and necessary investigation of our sweet and tender Love.  This applies both to Love for ourselves and for others.  Being that it is happening in Cancer/Capricorn, one of the greatest themes present here relates to maturity! Pluto is whispering from the depths of the Unconscious mind, “Can you control your desires…..can you handle these repressed energies I am releasing……can your relationship handle it…………can you dance with this new Lover without scaring them away??? The essence of this Transit is a deep and probing questioning of our Desire nature and our essential needs.  We could feel a bit obsessed today.  We also can experience tremendous confusion because of the upsurge of Unconscious “shadow” content.  This transit will make all of us question our core Values, in so creating a fertile place for transmutation and resurrection of novel energies and power.  All intense transits are hard and scary at first, but if the work is done, it leaves us in celebration!!!

…Below are key themes of this potent Venus/Pluto transit:

stimulated desires

finding new meaning

….Meaning through romance and/or sexual experience.

Finding depth in thyself.

Divorce/Separation

New relationships, though be careful of obsession and potential manipulation.

Relationship transformation (new grounds to love on)

a very revealing, intimate encounter

Repressed emotion will erupt like a volcono!

“all or nothing” energy.

fear of betrayal You might feel relationships are threatened.

Do not resist CHANGE!

letting go of destructive attachments

Money issues.

…..Poor spending decisions made to date may come to a head and you may need to face up to their reality.

*By the end of the transit, you should have a renewed sense of worth, although getting to that point may not be entirely pleasant. You have nothing to fear! Everything is working out perfectly!

I wish all of you the best with this Dionysian transit! I also wanna offer Venus specific readings for anybody interested on learning more about how this transit is affecting your chart personally! You can contact me at KOSMOGNOSIS@GMAIL.COM, and also visit me on the web at WWW.HOLESTOHEAVENS.COM.

The Venus/Mars Conjunction in Taurus

The Venus/Mars Conjunction in Taurus

…boy OH boy, have I been waiting for this.  I’m sure you all can feel it too. We are now entering amazing territory.  A space that shall bring us all immense healing in the realms of Love, Money, and Spirit.

We have entered Eclipse season with a New Moon and Solar Eclipse in Gemini coming around the corner next week, and today (Monday, May 23, 2011) Venus and Mars are conjunct in Taurus reformulating our deepest assumptions in our lives.  This aspect is bringing an overflowing basket of goodies,  spilling every which way, creating a fertile ground for many wonderful things to come.
Here is an excerpt from the May 2011 Astrological Overview sent out by Priya Kale:

“Perhaps the most significant aspect this month comes around the end of May when Venus-Mars conjunction in Taurus. This can be rather indulgent energy and is laden with rich, luscious and fertile possibilities – financially, romantically and creatively. The next conjunction will not be until 2013 in Aries, making this a rather rare aspect. What we make of it will depend on our ability to recognize the potential in something or someone [and more importantly what it means to us.]
“These planets usually conjunct once ever 2 years, but recently since 2008 (the last conjunction before that was in October 2006 in Scorpio) we’ve had a series of Venus-Mars conjunctions in close succession suggesting a situation or relationship that has been in a rapid state of evolution.
“Venus-Mars were conjunct in Libra on Sep. 12, 2008, in Aries on April 22, 2009, then on June 21, 2009 in Taurus, on Aug. 21, 2010 in Libra and the most recent one on Oct. 4, 2010 in Scorpio. Look back to these dates and you will see a greater pattern emerging in financial and creative situations, relationships and especially a close personal relationship you share.   Especially look to the time around of Oct. 4, 2010 when Mars and Venus made a conjunction in Scorpio. We were learning deep, dark perhaps painful truths and secrets at that time especially surrounding sexual relationships and financial commitments. Things were changing deeply back then and we were certainly put in the ring of fire.
But as the planets conjunct again in Taurus on May 23, 2011 in the opposite side of the zodiac look at how far you’ve come from six months ago. Scorpio represents transformation and although something was ‘dying’ it was a necessary part of the process of resurrection. Now as the planets conjunct in Taurus, we are learning what is ‘real’ never dies, it only changes and evolves to reveal true form.” — Priya Kale, May 1, 2011.

It is terribly important right now to be completely honest with yourself and those around you about what it is you are looking for out of your life. A crossroads comes with this aspect in all of our relationships. I feel its a time to define our Center, and also to plan on how we will interact with others from this point forward.  A time to channel Grandfather energy as my good friend would say. To be unaffected by other peoples opinions, but also to be quite careful about our own opinions and assumptions about others.  It is a time of new commitments.  Mine? To never talk badly about another person.  I had to learn this lesson by watching a dear friend get ruined in the process. It taught me sooOooo much about my own tendency to judge or to be critical.  And so, this is my commitment: To channel GrandFather energy, and to become an empty vessel that is constantly filled and emptied by love and understanding!

Anytime Venus and Mars make aspects, relationships and financial situations are highlighted and in Taurus this is clutch.  It relates to our own Values and Self-Love! The next time Venus and Mars make a conjunction in Taurus will be 30 years in the future in 2041 when Saturn returns to Libra, making this an especially rare aspect. Taurus is a sign that rules deep commitments and the commitments we are making now are setting the stage for the 30 years that are about to start unraveling.  So…plant those seeds, and be commited to the tender process of watching these amazing visions grow into fruit bearing trees!  This will require patience and commitment but the fruits of your efforts will be well worth it.
Here is another exerpt from Priya:
“We have one life to live and its too precious to live holding on to the things and people we love for fear of loss. You, me and everything that ‘is,’ will one day return to dust. Even loss is as much a part of life, making this incredible gift all the more precious in its transience, too short to waste on regrets and on what might have been. Only the love we share is real and what matters is how much we cherish life and each other while still here in the flesh.”

Another interesting point to mention before I log off from blog land, is that also, back in October of 2010, Venus went Retrograde shortly after the conjunction with Mars.  This time of reevaluation began in early October and ended in late November.  If you think back, it was a tumultous time for many in the realm of Love and Money.  Whatever darkness we experienced back in the Fall is actually coming Full Circle now.  So sit with that, try to understand what was going on deep inside your Soul then, and see now how it is coming into manifestation!!!

Some News:

This past week was a big one for me as far as implimenting new activities into my life.  We had our first Astrology Circle on Thursday which was a wonderful succes, and I have decided to fully commit to making it happen every Thursday from now on.  If you are in the Front Range come and visit (7-9:30 pm; 4949 Broadway; suite 204)

* Also, on Saturday I did the first Lyons Market, and it too was a great success.  If you feel called to come to the market, I will be offering donation based readings from 10-3pm through October

* And last, was my tabling out in front of Tonic bar that happened on Sunday from 2-6pm.  Within those 4 hours, there was never a moment of lull.  It was jam packed with wonderful exchange and healing potential.  So…every Sunday, from 2-6pm, come down to Pearl st. and pay a visit, even if it is only to say hello.

Yup, thats all.  (just excited, thats all! lol…)

Namaste my friends,

sOma

On solid ground: Reflections on the Aries fire!

On solid ground: Reflections on the Aries fire!

…With a dwindling rapid heart rate, scorched hair, and a bit of a burn on my chest, I sit here contemplating what the hell just happened.  Of course, I’m speaking about the raging fires we have been experiencing for a month or so with the amount of Aries energy in the sky.  Less than a month after Uranus ingressed into Aries, we also got to experience Jupiter, Mars, Venus, Mercury, and the Sun all in the first sign of the Tropical Zodiac.  It was fun, it was inspiring, it was sexual, and ultimately it lit up the collective like a bonfire started by the Gods themselves.  In this blog post, I want to reflect a bit on the implications of this powerful meeting of planets and also where we are going next!

Mercury’s Retrograde cycle:

The ultimate purpose of Mercury retrograde is to reflect and reconfigure our THINKING.  This may seem vague and casual, but its implications are profound! Our thoughts create our reality.  And during this previous Retrograde cycle in Aries we were forced to re-examine our essential Desires in life, and also attempt to pick up all the lost pieces of the Soul (see blog about ERIS).

It all began on March 17th when Mercury entered its Shadow (this is Mercury’s greatest reach in his Retro cycle).  Once Mercury reaches the Shadow, we begin to feel the effects of the cycle. But on the 30th of March is when Mercury actually went Retrograde.  Now, wherever this happened in your chart, indicates what exactly you were meditating on.  If it was in the 2nd, you were thinking about values and money; if in the 8th, you were thinking about death, sex, and debt; if in the 10th, it was career that was mostly on your mind.  No matter where this was occurring, we were all feeling the overall effects of Mercury’s apparent backwards motion.  For many it probably felt like regression, or backsliding.  And then, on April 23rd, when Mercury decided to move Direct, the flow of our mental state turned outwards.  We began to implement our learnings into the world.  (For me, this is when I saw the BIG changes occur in my life. The meditation seemed to pay off!).  Finally, last Wednesday, on the 11th of May, Mercury finally released himself from the struggle at 24 Aries.  It is my hope that you found your way out of your out- dated patterns that have been restricting your Spirit.  After all, this is the point.  Without Mercury we would have no understanding of Self, Spirit, of Other.

Mercury enters Taurus today (May 15). Being the ruler of Gemini and Virgo (emphasis on the Virgo exaltation) it has a natural affinity for earth signs; yet in Taurus it tends to be more pensive and emotional rather than mercurial and quick-witted. Its intelligence is the more thoughtful and enduring kind. It is my hope that our new patterns become concrete.  That they turn into valleys and great canyons of the Mind which enable you to reach greater heights within our heart.

Venus/Jupiter cycle:

Venus also enters Taurus  today (May 15). This is one of the signs of which Venus is the traditional ruler. The mix of Venus, Mercury and Mars brings quite a nice dose of sensuous creative energy to Taurus. The three are moving into a trine with Pluto, which will give that energy some means of expression and depth, taking advantage of the psychic space that Pluto in Capricorn has been clearing out for us (whether we like that clearing out process or not).

…I think I’ll write a Song today…..lol

* An important note: On the same day Mercury was released from his Retro cycle, there was a conjunction between Venus and Jupiter at 24 degrees Aries (May 11th).  This marks the beginning of their cycle of Abundance.  Venus is beauty, money, and art; Jupiter is opportunity, intuition, and our connection to Spirit.  Together, they create of beautiful cycle of potential abundance–that is if we utilize it correctly! From now and until March of next year, we will live this cycle out.  It is important to make an intention.  What do you want to bring into your life? Is it money? Is it a Love? Is it a new skill? Or a creative project? Whatever it is, make a clear intention, and utilize this cycle to it fullest potential.  (this is one of the greatest gifts of Astrology: knowing when is most auspicious for engaging in such endeavors!!!)

A few words on a Newly Discovered planet:

Sedna, the Inuit Goddess of the Sea is also in Taurus–and has been for quite some time. This is the planet with the longest known orbit — 11,400 years. It’s currently eight billion miles away from the Sun (and that is close; it’s at the near side of its orbit). It is, for us, a seemingly permanent fixture in Taurus. It’s currently at 22+ degrees of that sign. It begins its transit into Gemini in 2024. The Sun is currently conjunct Sedna, and over the next few weeks Mercury, Venus and Mars will also make conjunctions as well. The themes of Sedna take us into some of the darkest territory of the psyche, including alienation and rejection. Melanie Reinhart once described its themes as being about ‘keeping your heart open in hell’. Meaning, in the midst of a world wide paradox of painful realities, its important to remember that everything is working out perfectly.  We are being watched over.  We are being provided for, and maybe one day we will have a more profound awareness of all of these new planets (btw….pay attention to my upcoming PODCAST shows, where I will investigate all the the “NEW” planets in great detail).

Vesak, or Buddha’s moON:
Tuesday, by the way, is the Scorpio Full Moon (Sun Taurus/Moon Scorpio). This will happen with the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars in Taurus — so we are in a moment of full activation of Taurus, with just four days of the Sun’s passage to go after that Full Moon — but thanks to the presence of many inner planets, more than a year of Jupiter and Sedna for another decade, Taurus is an energy we will be exploring for quite a while.
Because Taurus is about an investigation of what is meaningful and valuable to us, and because it relates so closely to how we feel about ourselves, I would say that’s a good thing.

….that was a lot of information, I know.  Hopefully you got something out of it.  If you would like to know how all of this is affecting you in your own chart, just contact me at KOSMOGNOSIS@GMAIL.com, and we can set up a session to better explore the implications of these momentous times in your own life (chart).

Many blessings to you all,

sOma
