Austin Coppock on 2012

Austin Coppock on 2012

It’s finally here–well, almost.  2012.  The year we have all been waiting for.  Is it going to meet the hype in real-time? Is it the end? Is it a beginning? What does the Astrology actually say about this year and of December 21st? In this show, Austin and I talk for a good hour about all of this.  There is truth to our trepidation, but there is also copious amounts of falsity.  Listen, learn, and hopefully you will also enjoy!

….Join me, on a dark, yet, powerful journey into the New moOn portal of the Scorpion.  This is a time when the veils are thin.  The ghosts are floating, the faeries are watching, and our demons are hiding in the shadow lands.  How can we protect ourselves? How can we work with this energy? What is the point? In the show I talk about all of these questions and more.  Hope you enjoy.

Astrology for the Week (Oct 3…)

Astrology for the Week (Oct 3…)

(Week of Oct 3-8th)

…This was originally supposed to be posted on Planetwaves.net, but a few complications got in the way, so here it is now.  Hope you enjoy!

We will be entering this week fresh and empowered by the strange energy offered by the Galactic Center of our Milky way Galaxy. I say this because the Moon will ingress into Capricorn at 2:15 am MDT (I will use this time zone from now on) Monday morning. The Galactic Center is currently located at 28 degrees Sagittarius, and offers all inhabitants around our Sun an extra boost of unfathomably potent and strange energy. With this charge, perhaps we will be prepared to deal with the series of challenging aspects we will experience Monday morning.  But not to worry…this doesn’t mean your “case of the Monday’s” will be augmented into the grey areas of emotional chaos, because you are reading this after all; You are becoming informed.  And to be informed, is to be forewarned; to be forewarned, is all you need to make the right choices to make this week the best week of your life!

At 6:19 am MDT (again, this is the time zone I will refer too, so make your necessary adjustments) we will experience the Moon squaring Uranus.  The nature of this aspect is an inner struggle that likely could be triggered by unpredictable morning traffic, spilt coffee on your lap, frustrating cancellations in your morning schedule, or any other number of possibilities which may challenge your ability to see clearly through the tests presented. It’s always our job to see the blessings in disguise within all of life’s bizarre offerings.  Then, not long before your lunch break, the Moon will be conjunct Pluto.  This fusion is the essence, or focal point of the Grand Cross which has been bursting and contracting for the past year or so.  The Moon with Pluto asks us, in the breathe of a cold and wet whisper, “Are you ready to change.”  There is always an ominous feeling with Pluto, and this is because he brings us to the depths of what gives us emotional security.  Usually unconscious in the way this Archetype expresses itself, it is our job to become aware of this content living in the shadow’s of our Psyche. Having this occur at the beginning of October’s first work week, is a poetic way of ushering in the month of Samhain and Halloween.  And so we ask ourselves (or at least we should be asking ourselves): “Are we doing ‘the work’?” “Are we aware of our shadows?”…these slippery Archons, that are consuming us from the inside out through sex, addiction, desire, and manipulation?” Are we aware of what we are letting in, and giving out? If the answer is yes, then you are in the clear.  If not, well, be prepared for Monday to potentially offer a few razor sharp curve balls, and pulls into the darkness of your least favorite emotional states.  These Transpersonal planets (Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and beyond) mean business, and its best that we align to them sooner than later, or else, they will start doing the adjustments for us.  It’s always wise to be proactive with these movers and shakers living on the edge of our Solar System.

The challenges may continue into the Tuesday when the Moon will square all of the planets currently in Libra.  They are: Venus, Juno, Saturn,Mercury, and–of course the Sun.  This first quarter aspect of the growing Moon, who also began in Libra last Monday the 27th, will no doubt bring some drama into our lives from Others and in our Relationships.  Now, we cannot just blame this square aspect, or the planets involved.  We need to take responsibility for what we are projecting onto Others, and realize the nature of these illusions.  After all, what happens on Monday with Uranus and Pluto aspecting the Moon, should have prepared us for this challenging “square” day. Again, if you have done your inner “plutonic” work, you will instead experience a major breakthrough in relationships with your friends and lovers on Tuesday, because you will understand, deeper, the nature of the reality you are creating in the first place. Deep eflections.

Wednesday into Thursday we will be experiencing an electric shift of energy into a more flowing state of being.  This is because the Moon will be moving into Aquarius, making some gentle and stimulating aspects to the Nodes of the Moon.  When the Moon is either sextile (60 degrees away) or Trine (120 degrees away) from the Nodes, there seems to be a heightened possibility for coincidence and synchronicity in the air.  Also the feeling of Dejavu seems to be rampant–esp. if the Sun, or another planet is aspecting the Nodes in your natal chart in such a way.  (Conjunctions to the Nodes seem to cause a similar effect).  On Wednesday, Mercury will also be trining and sextiling the Nodes, stimulating the intellect, perhaps creating the need to get some coffee shop time with old friends, playing catch up, and getting your kicks through wonderful conversations.

And then we have Friday: “the Day of Bliss.” I say this because the Moon’s ingress into Pisces, which happens at 7:53 am MDT, will work its way slowly into the early evening making two oceanic conjunctions: one to Neptune, which happens first at 4:07pm, and then the second to Chiron, which occurs at 9:34 pm.  The Neptune conjunction always represents a potential for bliss and ecstasy; just as long as we can shift through the smoke and mirrors that present themselves.  Pay close attention to your fantasies and daydreams in the early afternoon.  Make sure to miss happy hour and any offer of other mind altering substances. It’s an incredibly sensitive time, and its good to stay in the ground state of your being.  Instead, sit by water, and just ask Great Spirit for more guidance along this elusive road that the moment is offering.  Once the Sun has set, Chiron is greeted by the Moon at 9:34pm, and here is our opportunity to integrate all that we have experienced throughout this hectic week of the Moon moving through all of the last signs of the Zodiac, touching the Outer, Transpersonal planets one by one.  It is my suggestion to be sipping nourishing tea–something like Nettles or Osha, with those that you love this Friday, simply reflecting on all the lovely times that you have experienced over the past year, preparing yourself for the Winter to come.  It’s a perfect time for these types of imaginings, so don’t sell yourself short.  Stimulate your mind, warm your heart, and watch your Spirit rise within these changing universal tides that we currently live within.

Love,

sOMa

Venus…as the Evening star

Venus…as the Evening star

Currently….Venus is becoming the Evening Star!….

I’m sure you’ve felt it: The speeding up of life, and the deep transformation we are all intuiting in the depths of our Collective mind.  An Old story seems to be unraveling like a rolling ball of yarn. Whether you are currently directing your awareness at 2012, the Economic crash, the new nightmare of Elections, Elenin, or ______ for the catalyst of this “Great Shift,” it is Venus for me, who is bringing us deeper and deeper into our heart, our Love, and our entire internal Universe that is constantly changing.  In this process, we relinquish our fear, and we have the opportunity to really save ourselves. Collectively, I think we are contemplating pupation, desiring to become cosmological butterflies, with the ability to fly above the detritus we have created on this sacred Earth. In this blog, I want to talk about an often overlooked cycle in Astrology: the Cycle of Venus.

Right now, Venus is invisible in both the Morning and Evening sky.  This is because she is “traveling” with the Sun (she is between the Earth and the Sun, so we cannot see her). Soon, she will be reborn into the Evening sky, as the wizened Evening star, and will be visible just after Sunset.

I feel this “Shift” we are currently going through, relates directly to a rebalancing of power. The patriarchal era is coming to a rapid close, and on the heels of this dying epoch, we can fully sense the return of the Goddess. Her return ignites our remembrance of the sacredness of the Earth and all life held by it, including ourselves. The return of the Sacred Feminine need not imply a new hierarchy with the masculine at the bottom. We live in a time of integration, where we can activate the sacred marriage between Feminine and Masculine, between Heaven and Earth. Slowly, all of us, whether we like it our not, will become more and more intimate with the ground beneath our feet. We will remember the healing potential of plants, the voices of animals, and the rhythm of the cosmos we float within.  Mother Earth, Mother Earth….she brings good luck!

When dealing with the cycles of Venus, we look for the pattern behind the re-emergence of the Sacred Feminine and its impact on the Earth and Humanity. For many ancient cultures including the Egyptians, Babylonians, Sumerians, Persians and Australian aboriginal people, Venus represented the Sacred Feminine. Venus undergoes a new initiation cycle every 584 days, about 1 ½ years. The sign in which she begins her cycle can be understood as the “overtone” or version of the Goddess currently activated in the Collective Imagination. These cycles are felt at both the individual and collective levels.

In the current cycle of Venus, we are waiting for the re-emergence of the Scorpio Goddess. On November 4 of last year, morning star Venus rose in the east in the sign of Scorpio. From that time until June 11, 2012, it has been she who is remaking our world. So who is this dark and mysterious version of the Feminine, and what is she attempting to do to us? She has been feared by the Judeo Christian paradigm for centuries, and if often labeled as “Witch” or “Sorceress.” Yet when we scratch the surface of history across cultures we find her venerated as Kali Durga, Pele, Hecate, and the Dark Goddess. Fear naturally comes with change, and this is the essence of the Archetype of Scorpio: Deep and cathartic change, phasing into the cycles of Rebirth and complete renewal!

The Scorpio Goddess holds the most profound of the feminine mysteries. She is the female Shaman, representing all that is organic, wild, outside of the realm of logic and rationality, and outside of the control of the most powerful modern technologies or institutions. It is she who initiates death and destruction of the status quo. She is the master of these deep and mysterious Underworld cycles. Again, she serves the Earth and wholeness by orchestrating the essential pattern of death and rebirth. I find it fascinating that this current Venus cycle is happening in parallel with the Grand Cross (see previous articles and podcasts on this), the “2012″ phenomenon–the  ”End of the Mayan Calender”, Elenin, and all the other myriad conspiracies of what is happening to the planet at this time in history!

From her morning star appearance in November through July, Venus was in the descent process of her cycle, preparing for her Underworld initiation. This has been a shamanic death for all of us, where everything that serves us no longer, is stripped away and destroyed, so that we can move forward, without fear, awaiting the next blessings to arrive into our lives. Within this cycle, I have never witnessed more traumatic breakups and breakdowns than with any other planetary cycle.  We have seen her in the intensity of all the natural disasters, the revolutions and protests around the world, and of course the fall of the dollar (after all, Venus does rule over Taurus, which relates to Money and Resources.) I am also fully after that lots of this relates strongly to other Transits, like Pluto in Capricorn squaring Uranus in Aries, but when you really lock your awareness into this cycle, meditate on the dates, picking up old journals, and reminiscing.  You will discover an uncanny revealing of what this Scorpio Venus cycle has been doing to your Heart, and for what reasons.  I highly recommend diving  into your not-so-distant memories for some juice!

On July 11, Venus completed her descent and disappeared from view in the morning sky. From that event through September 22, Venus is within 10 degrees from the Sun and so, she is invisible to the human eye. From the perspective of the ancient astrologers, this is when Venus–or the Sacred Feminine–is moving through the underworld, experiencing this Shamanic death, so that she can be born again to the Evening sky.  Her beauty and magnificence shall return soon enough!

Within this trans-mutational phase of Venus, we are asked  to surrender and to stop our struggling. It is at this stage that we must allow ourselves to be shaped like clay of the Earth.  Our wits cannot save us, and we cannot even apply force through Will to change the process from happening. We must cultivate trust that this passage through the dark night is perfect, and allow our old skins to fall from us like leaves on an Autumn’s tree.

In the days following September 22, the Fall Equinox, Venus will rise from the Underworld, with her neo-appearance, appearing in the evening sky as Crone, where she will remain until May of 2012. She will be dim at first but will gain brightness as she appears each night. The moments that circle around the Fall Equinox are potent times for intention and ceremony, and a time to welcome the renewed Scorpio Goddess into our world. It is during this time when we can finally see the Light within the Darkness of Kali’s eyes.  She’s not as scary as we thought.  And if you think back to last Fall of 2010, and remember the challenges you were faced with, you will also begin to notice an umbilical connection existing between then and now.  If you have truly been doing “the Work,” you will be experiencing not only closure with the issues faced back then, but also a renewed sense of self and confidence!!!

Venus relates to the essence of our sexuality and the fire which animates all of our desires in our lives. When we lose touch with her, we lose contact with our Muse. And so, for this Equinox, may we welcome the tantric Shamaness back into our life, and allow her to show us the mysteries of life within our sexual cauldron. Her presence can be felt as a bubbling up of ecstatic joy, aliveness, and boundless creative energy—an activation of our wild souls. She energizes every cell of our being, tuning us to the song of Creation.

From this Fall into next Summer, Venus will continue to gain strength as she approaches completion of her Scorpio cycle. On May 30, 2012, Venus will enter the Underworld for a second time, completing a full metamorphosis and emerging in the morning sky on June 12 in the sign of Gemini, soaring high into the Morning sky, like birds of a feather.  This is the essence of the Venus cycle, and how she comes and goes from our skies, blessing us with both beauty and grace, creating a perfect 5 pointed star in the sky!

…a new day is coming, one dripping with love and bliss. Don’t miss a sunset once it comes.  She will be waiting, just above the Western horizon, with eyes of fire, and a heart like a pyre.  Don’t be scared.  You shall be born again!

Nessus and our Collective Fatigue

Nessus and our Collective Fatigue

…In deep reflection on last Saturday’s Full moOn in Aquarius (20 degrees), I have found it strange and intriguing that so many have reported intense fatigue and depression–including myself! Contrary to the nature of Aquarius and the Full moON, the celebrations were curbed to the wayside.  Looking deeply into the chart of that day, I found it a challenge to figure out exactly what was going on, but then I listened to Eric Francis’ Planet Waves podcast, where he was talking about the nature of Nessus, and then my understanding ignited like a fire originating from the base of my spine.  Nessus is another eccentric visitor/centaur, much like Chiron, who is currently transiting at 21 degrees of Aquarius (just a degree away from where the previous Full mOon was.  What is also interesting about this area of the zodiac, is that it is also the Midpoint of the Pluto/Uranus square (the “2012 aspect” many Astrologer’s are talking about, which is creating this feeling of Revolution in the air).  Midpoints are integration points between planets.  You can use them in both Transits and in the natal chart, and they reveal an ultra sensitive point on “integration” for the relationship between two planets/Archetypes! Now, in this blog, I want to give you a background on Nessus, and then offer some of my musings and experiences that I have had since my reluctant discovery of this powerful Archetype in the sky….

Astronomy of Nessus

Astronomically, Nessus has a very elliptic orbit of about 124 years. It crosses the orbits of Uranus and Neptune but does not touch the sphere of Saturn’s orbit and only just enters the inner sphere of Pluto’s orbit; not crossing either in the process. It is important to note this as a planet’s orbit signifies its characteristics. For instance Nessus’s orbit suggests a Uranus/Neptune/Pluto influence.

The centaurs are kinda like strange octaves of Pluto, dynamically and physically. They are cometary visitors in our lives, full of magic power, and maybe like shamans are today figures of forgotten times and lands, psychopomps, that catalize our soul life. Astronomically, they cross the realm of the giant planets, travelling among them. Their orbits are chaotic, unstable, “in pain”. They are objects from afar running amok in a realm which is not theirs, coming to the Sun at right angles instead of circling it, and, unlike the other planets, they will die soon. This is the price they pay for their freedom.
Juan Antonio RevillaSan José writes, “Imagine their orbits: they are very elongated, coming “squarely at us” and moving very fast, as they approach their closest distance to the Sun… even –at least in Chiron’s case– displaying a coma, an “aura” of “numinosity”, and then begin to go away from us almost to disappear in very slow motion. This type of movement  is a catalizer, it “hits”, opens, awakens, and, like the arrows of Hercules, inflicts pain, even to the point of desolation and death.    This is why the centaurs can releive us from our pain and heal, not in the way of the doctor, but in the way of the shaman.”

…hopefully, I still have your interest, because the Mythology weaving into the Astrology is even more fascinating!

MYTHOLOGY OF NESSUS

(taken from Juan Antonio RevillaSan José’s articale on Nessus from http://www.expreso.co.cr/centaurs/articles.html)

To understand Nessus’ mythology, we need to re-introduce Heracles (Hercules.) (Hercules figures into the stories of just about every centaur, it seems.)
In one story, Heracles was very attracted to a young virgin by the name of Deianera, and so he slept with her….and then agreed to marry her. In another story (which may not conflict with the former story at all,) Heracles married Deianera because, while he was in the underworld, he promised Deianera’s dead brother that he would. Anyway, Eurytion (another Centaur…possibly one of the as yet unamed ones) asked for Deianera’s hand in marriage, and her father consented (perhaps he was afraid of saying no to a Centaur?) Well, Heracles found out, burst angrily into the wedding celebration, killed Eurytion, and took Deianera to be his bride.
I am not sure if Heracles was on his honeymoon or not, but he and his new wife had to cross a river that was overflowing. Nessus, according to the myth, offered to ferry Heracles’ wife across a river…..and when he reached the other side, tried to rape her. Heracles, quite naturally enraged, shot Nessus with a poison arrow. As Nessus lay dying, he told Heracles’ wife that, should Heracles ever be unfaithful, she could bring him back to her by placing the blood-soaked cloak (now on Nessus’ back) over Heracles’ shoulders. (In some of the more graphic stories, though, it was a mixture of his blood and semen that Nessus told Deianera to scoop up….and to put on a cloak one day should Heracles stray in his affections.) Years later, she remembered Nessus’ words, and did precisely that. But Nessus lied….on his death bed, he wanted revenge. The cloak caused Heracles to burn up with flames of magic, and he was in terrible pain. Hera finally relented, allowed his physical body to die on earth, and translated him to Mount Olympus where he was made one of the gods for all time. (Something to ponder….it was Nessus’ poisonous act that, in actuality, healed the feud between Hera and Heracles.) It is interesting that, many years earlier, Zeus had told Heracles that he would be killed by a dead enemy!

(more from Jose…):

In the very little time since its discovery in 1993, Nessus has been associated with bad and ugly things, primarily coming from the mythological association it has with poison and death, and the proximity of its orbit to Pluto. This associations have been confirmed by observation, but have precluded an understanding of the process involved. This happens when mythology is used too literally.
Take the story of Deianira, for example; isn’t it also a part of the Nessus dynamics? Heracles, Nessus and Deianira are a triangle, a unity, like three aspects of the same thing. Heracles is a very violent and primitive “raw” type, hardly an archetype for humanity… it is more an archetype of what is raw in us, like a mythological counterpart of the centaurs. His ways are violently cruel and deadly like the creatures he kills.
We must see the whole process involved and not only the negative part. What is the dynamics of Nessus that manifests itself in a monstrous, poisonous way? The vulnerability of Deianira, Nessus lust, and Heracles rawness are part of the same cruel story. If I take Heracles as “raw” humanity, then the “bad blood” associated with Nessus is the consequence or continuation of the cruelty and violence that Heracles represents. What Nessus does is leave Heracles violence and cruelty naked, which means he could be the cure, for example, not only the disease. Like an homeopathic remedy or a vaccine, the disease has to come out in order to heal it…
History and the past, from a psychological point of view, are alive, not dead, and will “come to hunt us” as if from the future or from “destiny”, but it is really the unredeemed past transformed into something that seems to poison us. However, we are the poison, we created it. Nessus “beast” is our creation, and he will do what he was programmed to do. Our dark and raw past is not that bad. Inside of it, in its heart, is the vulnerability of Deianira, our inner child…
Nessus as the Beast!
Wild beasts may be an excellent example of our relationship with Nessus. The beast is in all of us; but it is this beast that teach us the beauty and the harmony of life. For example: when you have a very intense and prolonged (physical or emotional) pain you are in hell, and would like to die, but when it goes away you are able to feel the beauty and the immensity of the most simple things of life. When we learn to face our Beasts–our demons–we essentially are facing fear, and ask yourself, “When was the last time you faced a fear and werent rewarded???”
We can learn to respect the wild, as we learn to respect darkness, and death. The Centaurs, as our Inner Shaman visitors, confront us with all our most venomous aspects of self.  They show us our deepest personal lies, and where the healing most take place.  With Nessus, there seems to be a strong correlation with the re-visitation of a ghost of the past, to pay its karmic dues, much like with Hercales death in cause of the spell. Through our repressed memories and emotions, monsters are created, and Nessus seems to relate to the process strongly.  (Which I will talk about more in a second…)

The Astrology of Nessus
Astrologically, wherever Nessus is placed in the chart is where we need to deal with issues of power and lust. It is where we feel deeply hurt and in need of revenge or where we may become obsessed about a person or about getting even. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. Remember, Nessus was the cause of Hercules’ death after he himself had died. And so it is here that we may have to deal with issues relating to the past or that we may have inherited from previous generations. It is where we need to work hard to understand our motives and to consider our actions in order to be able to make the transition and to move on to a new stage in life. How easy or difficult this is will depend on the aspects from Nessus to planets in the natal chart, in particular to the personal planets and angles.

…Note: Again, The Full moON was on Nessus on Saturday, along with it being conjunct between the Uranus/Pluto square!!!

::::::Like being cloaked….in a blood & semen soaked talisman,

We were up in flames Saturday

and may still be feeling the burn::::::

….for me, 21 degrees falls in my 6th house (The House of Healing).  Last night, when I was in a potent meditation under the Pisces moOn, watching the Persiads go off, I had an epiphany about how Nessus is functioning in my own life. Through my own experience, hopefully you can gain some insight into your own experience!

My realization came directly through the eyes of both Uranus and Pluto, and how they have been reworking me for the past decade or so.  Pluto is currently leaving my 4th house, where he has been since the late 90′s.  This was a time of great change in my life, mainly because my best friend and my father died in this chapter of my life, which completely transformed my relationship to both myself, and my idea of what “family”/”home” means. Uranus (who is squaring Pluto currently) is attempting to leave my 7th house (the House of Love), where he was been since 04′.  This was a time of my life where intimate relationships came to the forefront of my life for the first time.  Ever since then, I have been “upgrading” (Uranus) my intimacy skills by having not been out of a relationship since the beginning of the Transit! The combination between these two themes–transforming my relationship to home, and swiftly evolving my spirit through intimacy–has taken quite a toll on my physical health.  This is where Nessus comes in! By constantly moving my home, changing my environments, and alotting nearly all of my energy into “Other,” I have been overtaxed and perhaps wounded!  My health, my reserves, my rhythym, have all been altered.  I felt it Saturday with the Full moON, and I saw it clearly last night in my meditation.  The cloak of Nessus is draped over my shoulders, and if I’m not careful from this point forward, I will be dis-eased.  I actually had a vision of Nessus in my meditation, and he was pointing to areas of my body, that are influenced by my psychology.  He told me that is I did not change, I would fall ill, and possibly even die.  Having this insight was of course sobering, but it was ultimatley liberating. With awareness, we change. Thank you Nessus!

Looking back to Saturday, think deeply into what could have been the origin of your suffering.  What is causing this fatigue? Why have we lost some of our inspiration? Where is the Cancer growing? All these questions point directly to Nessus.  And he waits for you with his nasty magical cloak, wanting you to try it on, for the sake of remembering….for the sake of healing! Don’t be shy.

   These are words by Peter T. Young (June 8, 1945 – June 19, 1998):
Did you hear him? Listen…I hear an Angel deep off in the brush….Howling at the moon…The Wolf…Did you ever think…Of the Wolf as an Angel?God sends Angels of every form…Protecting all that lives…And the Wolf…He is an Angel too….Standing tall and stern upon the rocky cliff…Singing with his roaring voice…To the Heavens…Making a call….To God…This Wolf…He is an Angel…Do not fear him…Listen to the beast speak…Frightening…Alarming…But tame in spirit…Fighting to survive…Among all that threatens his being…No harm to you…No harm to me…The Wolf…..fighting to be set free…
