…with our hypnotic gaze pointed into the mercurial flow of inward study (Mercury Retro), another layer of sensitivity settles softly on our naked flesh; The Warrior has come home to rest.  It’s time to share some stories….

Mars enters Cancer on August 3 at 2:22 a.m. PDT / 5:22 a.m. EDT and will stay through September 18th. Today, as Mars enters Cancer, Mercury also just began his retrograde motion at 1 degree Virgo. When a planet is retrograde, it’s focus turns inward. It is a deep reflection into the nature of the Archetype, and how we are using it. Between Mars in reserved Cancer and four other celestial bodies retrograde (Uranus, Pluto, Chiron, and Neptune) the month of August may be quite the Inner journey.

Mars in your Birth Chart gives us the power to get what we want.  An inner Warrior who rules over the 3rd Chakra, relating to our Free Will. Mars is our ability to take action and make change in the world! He is also the commander of Pluto’s army–meaning, he does the dirty work for the Soul.  If Mars is “our” Will Power, then Pluto is our Soul’s Will Power.  Jeff Green, author of Pluto 1 & 2, talks a lot about the Phasal relationship between Pluto and Mars, and how Mars can be an indicator of how long a particular desire has been emanating from the Soul (check out his books for more info).  And with Mars in Cancer, the bottom line is this: The only security that can be forever relied upon, is the security found in our own hearts.  By giving external objects power for our security needs, we will always suffer, because manifestations in the material world–no matter how real they seem–will always slowly fall through our fingers.  Impermanence, impermanence, within the firmaments! As the Buddha says, “To end your suffering, you must end your Desires;” …you must train your Mars!

Mars in Cancer is driven to manifest emotional security. It is said that Mars is “Fallen” in Cancer, meaning that he is weak here.  I feel he is only weak in Cancer if you compare him to the stereotype of what Mars is usually said to be like.  If you think that Mars needs to be fighting for a cause, competing, and acting the part of the Hero, then perhaps you can come to some conclusion about how Mars can be weak here.  On the other hand, if you really sit with this energy, you will see, that Mars isn’t weak, he is vulnerable.  Cancer is the sign/Archetype where we discover our emotional body.  It shows us our sensitivities and preferences in life. When Mars moves into Cancer, his Will is directed into finding ever lasting security. And again, its never going to last, if it is found outside one’s own heart. When Mars needs healing; he will come home to rest. Home is relative here, but its essential–whether literally “going home” or no. This world is a dangerous place, there are wars being fought–inside and out– there is destruction and corruption infecting the collective, and finally, Mars is able to admit: “It’s time to recoup; I’m tired and worn; it’s time for the Lion to lay with the Lamb!”

*Mars will be making some serious aspects over the next couple weeks to the Outer planets as well!

As Mars moves into Cancer on Wednesday, the first aspect he makes is to Neptune via a Trine aspect. Trines bring “harmony” and an ease of flow with their interaction.  What I see with this aspect is a dream; a dream involving the past, and the destruction which lies therein.  Neptune is offering Mars an opportunity to feel what he has done, by not just dreaming/seeing it, but feeling the results deeply! After all, Neptune does relate to the Mutable water in our bodies, which is Emotion! Neptune offers us Truth.  There is nothing that can be manipulated by the information this potent Outer Planet provides.  And what is the Truth for us personally? Only you know, but it will no doubt relate to how you have been using your energy, and how you have been affecting other people in your life! If you have been hurtful, its a time of great redemption; if you have been kind, the healing waters will course even deeper into your being.  Only time (Saturn) will tell….

Great inner battles shall begin when Mars moves forward and gets blasted by the battalion of the Cardinal Cross. An opposition to Pluto in Capricorn speaks to power struggles, potential manipulation, and secret desires; a square to Saturn in Libra creates an inward tension that could manifest in many ways, but most predictably, in relationships; and a square to Uranus in Aries (ruled by Mars) is best understood by a question posed by Uranus himself: “Are you finally ready to use your energy to rise up into your True Individuated state, or are you still chicken, and more happy with your current state of living in your Mother’s basement!?”

This Cardinal Cross will be in effect until August 25th (just a day before Mercury Retro ends). It’s gonna be rough, but its meant to help us mature and grow up.  Mars is like a troubled teen at times and these potent, elder, Transpersonal planets will be giving Mars a hard time, but its coming from Love. It’s about reality checks (Saturn), evolution (Uranus), and detoxification (Pluto)! And so, they serve me another question through the ether’s, for you, my dear reader:

…boy OH boy, have I been waiting for this.  I’m sure you all can feel it too. We are now entering amazing territory.  A space that shall bring us all immense healing in the realms of Love, Money, and Spirit.

We have entered Eclipse season with a New Moon and Solar Eclipse in Gemini coming around the corner next week, and today (Monday, May 23, 2011) Venus and Mars are conjunct in Taurus reformulating our deepest assumptions in our lives.  This aspect is bringing an overflowing basket of goodies,  spilling every which way, creating a fertile ground for many wonderful things to come.
Here is an excerpt from the May 2011 Astrological Overview sent out by Priya Kale:

“Perhaps the most significant aspect this month comes around the end of May when Venus-Mars conjunction in Taurus. This can be rather indulgent energy and is laden with rich, luscious and fertile possibilities – financially, romantically and creatively. The next conjunction will not be until 2013 in Aries, making this a rather rare aspect. What we make of it will depend on our ability to recognize the potential in something or someone [and more importantly what it means to us.]
“These planets usually conjunct once ever 2 years, but recently since 2008 (the last conjunction before that was in October 2006 in Scorpio) we’ve had a series of Venus-Mars conjunctions in close succession suggesting a situation or relationship that has been in a rapid state of evolution.
“Venus-Mars were conjunct in Libra on Sep. 12, 2008, in Aries on April 22, 2009, then on June 21, 2009 in Taurus, on Aug. 21, 2010 in Libra and the most recent one on Oct. 4, 2010 in Scorpio. Look back to these dates and you will see a greater pattern emerging in financial and creative situations, relationships and especially a close personal relationship you share.   Especially look to the time around of Oct. 4, 2010 when Mars and Venus made a conjunction in Scorpio. We were learning deep, dark perhaps painful truths and secrets at that time especially surrounding sexual relationships and financial commitments. Things were changing deeply back then and we were certainly put in the ring of fire.
But as the planets conjunct again in Taurus on May 23, 2011 in the opposite side of the zodiac look at how far you’ve come from six months ago. Scorpio represents transformation and although something was ‘dying’ it was a necessary part of the process of resurrection. Now as the planets conjunct in Taurus, we are learning what is ‘real’ never dies, it only changes and evolves to reveal true form.” — Priya Kale, May 1, 2011.

It is terribly important right now to be completely honest with yourself and those around you about what it is you are looking for out of your life. A crossroads comes with this aspect in all of our relationships. I feel its a time to define our Center, and also to plan on how we will interact with others from this point forward.  A time to channel Grandfather energy as my good friend would say. To be unaffected by other peoples opinions, but also to be quite careful about our own opinions and assumptions about others.  It is a time of new commitments.  Mine? To never talk badly about another person.  I had to learn this lesson by watching a dear friend get ruined in the process. It taught me sooOooo much about my own tendency to judge or to be critical.  And so, this is my commitment: To channel GrandFather energy, and to become an empty vessel that is constantly filled and emptied by love and understanding!

Anytime Venus and Mars make aspects, relationships and financial situations are highlighted and in Taurus this is clutch.  It relates to our own Values and Self-Love! The next time Venus and Mars make a conjunction in Taurus will be 30 years in the future in 2041 when Saturn returns to Libra, making this an especially rare aspect. Taurus is a sign that rules deep commitments and the commitments we are making now are setting the stage for the 30 years that are about to start unraveling.  So…plant those seeds, and be commited to the tender process of watching these amazing visions grow into fruit bearing trees!  This will require patience and commitment but the fruits of your efforts will be well worth it.

“We have one life to live and its too precious to live holding on to the things and people we love for fear of loss. You, me and everything that ‘is,’ will one day return to dust. Even loss is as much a part of life, making this incredible gift all the more precious in its transience, too short to waste on regrets and on what might have been. Another interesting point to mention before I log off from blog land, is that also, back in October of 2010, Venus went Retrograde shortly after the conjunction with Mars.  This time of reevaluation began in early October and ended in late November.  If you think back, it was a tumultous time for many in the realm of Love and Money.  Whatever darkness we experienced back in the Fall is actually coming Full Circle now.  So sit with that, try to understand what was going on deep inside your Soul then, and see now how it is coming into manifestation!!!

Some News:

This past week was a big one for me as far as implimenting new activities into my life.  We had our first Astrology Circle on Thursday which was a wonderful succes, and I have decided to fully commit to making it happen every Thursday from now on.  If you are in the Front Range come and visit (7-9:30 pm; 4949 Broadway; suite 204)

* And last, was my tabling out in front of Tonic bar that happened on Sunday from 2-6pm.  Within those 4 hours, there was never a moment of lull.  It was jam packed with wonderful exchange and healing potential.  So…every Sunday, from 2-6pm, come down to Pearl st. and pay a visit, even if it is only to say hello.

Little Lamb, who made thee?

Yesyesyes, the title of my blog post could be a tad cliche, but I do love old Metallica–as do I love Uranus moving into Aries. After his 7 year float through Pisces, Uranus has now evaporated the watery wings of the Dreamer, and is taking a more Earthy form, or more blazoned and radical one; that of Aries “the Ram.” “Out of the One, came the Many….”  Uranus will remain in Aries till 2018, during which time he will completely revolutionize humanity as we know it.  Uranus will be in a square dance with Pluto till 2015; this Transit is the “2012″ transit in many Western Astrologer’s eyes.  Indeed, this Transit is no joke.  We have only sampled the power of the square to Pluto with Jupiter doing so over the past month or so….when Uranus enters tomorrow, the lights start strobing, the sweat starts pouring, and the party really gets roaring.

On a social level, we are experiencing the necessity to build structures that will sustain not only the vision that was held in the late 60′s in our world (Pluto/Uranus conjunction, the beginning of the cycle), but a structure that can hold humanity for a few more breaths.  It’s the tipping point, the Final test: Can we make it through? Only you can know for sure…..And this is what brings us into the personal level of Uranus moving into Aries.  The question that is posed: Can you build a structure for your own life that can hold your own unique individuality, and feed it well? Or maybe another: Are you living authentically to your True Calling….? If not, why not? What is holding you back? This SYSTEM right!!!! Well thank God Pluto is in Capricorn (the SYSTEM)…..and “thank God” Uranus is stocked up full with ammunition (ideas, groups, vision, unity). They will work creatively together, in successfully destroying all the weakest links within the political structures in the world. Another way of seeing this, would be to imagine those in power fortifying their castles, and humanity holding secret meetings, plotting on how it is going to get its freedom back.  This is Uranus in Aries square Pluto, and it is only the beginning…….We shall be released!

The Problems

Being that we live in a unsustainable world that is weezing and coughing on its last leg around the crooked track, it’s still a little challenging to live our true dharma when we have to worry about: work, credit, debt, house, car, stuff, love, love lost, what if’s, should a’s, could a’s, would a’s…and…..of course…..all the rising BUT’s….in our vocabularies! We are limited by more than the “system;” it is also our language!

What are we to do?

We are all stressed out right now, and we may feel trapped…but we are not!!!. And if you don’t think you are trapped, and you think you are free….well…… If you think your Free, then how can you escape?!? We are all in it together. One Web.  I feel, that if we all start merging simultainously, and if we are all pointed at a similar goal, which would be of a sustainable future, then we could have it tomorrow, if we really wanted.  For example, I dream of the day when I walk to my neighbors house, offer a reading so that I can borrow their car for the day; or for food or any other service imaginable.  The Truth of the matter (and this is what Uranus is all about) is that we really don’t need this broken system.  It’s only a system; a program. Uranus in Aries gives us the crazy idea of imagining what it might be like if we all said, “You know what: no, I’m done; this is it, this is crazy, unsustainable.  No more.  I wanna live a happier, more stress free life.”  And so we liberate.  This is the Individuation process.  It is the core of Uranian Metaphysics!

….last time Uranus was in Aries, it was the Great Depression….=(

Over the next 7 years, we will be witness to so much radical change in our world, that we won’t even be able to recognize ourselves way back here 2011.  And it is my hope, we are all the more happier because of it. May we start now.  No more excuses.

Mars and Venus will also Ingress into Aries after the Equinox, only augmenting this ferocious need for Self Reclamation and Freedom.  We will all be witness to many breakups, people quitting their jobs to follow their dreams, spiritual seekers drifting off to their holy lands, essential inventions popping up like sparks, and much more unpredictable, unprecedented movements in the minds of the Masses.  We live in Electric times……Plug in, Plunge in, and Unite!!!! And don’t be shy! Open your heart to your neighbors, to your friends, to all of Humanity.  It is the point.  I feel it is why we are here; it is why we are Human.

As for me

In response to a lightning flash on the Aquarian New moOn that inserted a liberating thought into my Mind’s Eye, I am now back in Boulder, CO, living the Mystery.  I’m scared, I’m excited, I’m held, and I’m fully committed to this Uranian Science/Art of Astrology for the rest of my days on this planet.  This is exciting, because I feel it is what “I’m supposed to be doing.” It is my particular Uranus in Aries experience! And it is scary as hell, because of the financial reality  of things.  With Saturn currently transiting my 2nd house, heading towards his first return next Fall, I am frozen, stunned, and wordless in the face of “what to do….” I need dental work, I need transport, I need rent, I need food, I need fun, I need money to give…..(and here is my naughty insert): BUT….Oh the rising But.  There is no But.  There is only Truth!  I write this, not to lament, but to let you know that I am completely open to suggestions.  If you are reading this, and you know of ways that we can creatively utilize this information, this Astrology, this great gift, in some creative way that can create enough resources for a small community to thrive, I am all ears.  So far…..I’m thinking constant classes, study groups, festivals, donation based Astrology centers, and schools even (this is already happening with my friend Adam Elenbaas…..). Ultimately, I’m not just interested in my own survival here, I want to create sustainable communities around our talents.  And it doesnt need to be fancy pants barter systems, or alt. currency, it can be as simple as utilizing what we already have (money, possessions, services….and all our trades) in the beautiful creation of a network of thriving, spiritual beings!!! The vision is big, but nothing is holding it back.  This is blast off.  Non-attachment with the Great Big Open Hearts to unite, we will remember.  Yes we will.  We will remember what it means to be human, to be fully who we are: Creatures of Love, Spirit, and Art!!! If you share my excitement, please post, and share your ideas.  We need Virgos!!! lol…..

Destined for the Shore: Piscean Healing

Currently, there are 5 “Planets” in Pisces (Uranus, Mercury, the Sun, Mars, and Chiron–with Neptune soon to Ingress).  For me, it invites Overwhelm coupled with incredible potential for Healing!!! As I write this blog, I am confronted with soOOooo many questions: Why blog, there are thousands already blogging? What do you really have to offer the world of Astrology? What do you really have to offer the world? Why does my heart hurt so much, and how will this blogging assist in the healing in any way? Really…what is the point of doing this? Whywhywhywhy’s–Whatwhatwhatwhat’s…….like torrential rains of gray and dis-empowering ideas raging from the Center of Everything–or Pisces.  And so, I write to confront this Crisis of mine.  I want to speak to all Planets in Pisces; I want to attempt to understand what they want from me; I want this process to assist you also, my reader, to be able to better understand what the hell is going on in your life, your dreams, and the world around you…..There is a reason for this Oceanic moment in Time.  Grab your kayak–or your preferred floating device–and come with me into the night for a quick and awe inspiring trip into the estuaries of our Mind’s Oceanic zigzaging, making our way to the Ocean of Everything (Pisces)….

Uranus at 29 Pisces:

(preparing to square dance with Pluto for half a decade, hoping to revolutionize the world as we know it!)

…Uranus is the higher Mind, the Archetype of Objectivity, Refinement, and to energy that moves us into our Individuated states.  Since 2003, Uranus has been in Pisces, waking us up to the dormant possibilities of Oneness and the Global webbing that connects us all together.  The popularity of Social Networks like Facebook and Twitter and Evolver have all been ignited during this transit.  Now that we have them, we shall greet Aries: The Change we’ve all been waiting for.  By 2016, the world will not be the same….the 5 exact squares between Pluto and Uranus will have occurred, and the people will have taken the Power back in a very Real way.  It’s already happening, but it’s only Jupiter in Aries squaring Pluto–Uranus hasn’t even begun!!! (Think: Egypt, Libya, Unions…etc)

Mercury at 7 Pisces

(a degree ahead of the Sun)

Having just passed the Sun, in its “Superior Conjunction”–meaning conjunction via Direct Motion–Mercury is high on an Idea.  This is an inspirational time.  Lots of new plans, new ideas, new poems, new songs, new people, and of course, new dreams. Novelty. Communication is strong during this time, despite what “traditionalists” will say about Mercury’s debilitation in Pisces.  This is a great time for ceremony and ritual.  Be careful what you wish for though, because the Mercurial mind is tapped into the Collective realm (Pisces Mind) and our dreams can manifest into reality faster than you can say “what the F***.” So be careful.

Sun at 6 Pisces

…moving steadily higher in the sky towards the Aries point, or the Vernal Equinox, this Pisces Sun is the centerpiece to the stellium I am painting words around–it is where all the prana is coming out of.  When the Sun is in Pisces, it is an amazing time to be still, to be dreaming, and to allow your life to simply dissolve.  In other words, let go to the best of your abilities.  Trust, that no matter what, you are held.  Great Spirit will reward you for spiritualizing your life this month.

*On the 4th of March, there will be a Pisces New moON at 13 degrees.  May you utilize this moment in Time to plant a seed that will nourish your Spirit for the rest of your days–not just for the month that follows.  Make a strong intention to reconnect to Great Spirit.  Surrender is a good word here.

Mars at 2 Pisces

(just a day in the wake of the Chiron conjunction…..)

…the Obama administration decided to stop defending the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act, a law which essentially prohibits the federal recognition of same sex marriages. This is a step away from the obsessive homophobia of our society, much of which is projected by men at other at men. Homophobia has many roots, one of which is fear of self, and another of which is the fear of letting go of control in sexual situations. Mars in Pisces has much to do with understanding the sacred nature of all of our Masculine sides.  A wonderful way of taking full advantage of this transit is by sweating and praying simultaneously: ie. yoga, aikido, or any physical exercise that brings you closer to Spirit! Without it, the Masculine instinct, can run amok! Be careful out there!

(drum roll……..sparklers…….fireworks………long wintery days………heartache…….suferring…….and…..)

Chiron in Pisces, the 1st degree

In attempting to use metaphor powerfully: Everything thrown into the Ocean, will some day show up on a distant shore.  The same is true in our Minds.  All of our emotional wounds are also destined to return–even though we chucked them “out to sea” years ago.  Watching Chiron throughout the chart–via transits–is a sure way to predict these events–the times when Big Healing is destined to occur; but with big healing, there is also Big Pain.  With Chiron in Pisces, it’s an 8 year moment, where we are all confronted with our essential wounds and how we are tricking ourselves: where have we been lying? What have we been hiding? How have we been bandaging our scabs? When will we finally admit we need help? Why does it need to be like this? Do we need a Doc? Chiron in Pisces is essentially trying to show us that “Everything is ok….as long as you admit to your suffering, to your pain, and to move with it.” So be honest with yourself; don’t hide: there is no hiding.  The sooner you break open your heart, the better off you will be.  These are moments of reconciliation.  Be Courageous.  We are here to help! It is what “WE” are for? Don’t be afraid to ask, to cry, or to collapse….only then will the healing truly begin!

All in all, this stellium in Pisces is confusing.  It’s full of Big Ideas and Healing potential….but isn’t every moment? Does it really matter? I mean, how is this different than any other week or month in our lives? My answer to such questions would be this: Watch. Listen.  Write down your Dreams.   And then……you shall see.  Really though, there isn’t much that is subtle about these transits.  If my words havent hit you yet, they will.  Give it a few days…..Nobody is exempt!

Where am I? What am I doing?

I’m currently in NYC, preparing yet another move back to Boulder.  Last evening, I was given the most blessed opportunity to teach in the City with Adam Elenbaas, in the presence of some amazing Astrologer’s and a strong group of my closest friends.  It was my first time teaching in such a way, and I am forever grateful I did.  Of course I was scared, and there were parts of me trying to duck and dodge the experience, but I forged forward.  I say a thousand thank you’s to Jupiter, to Adam, to the group, and to all the Planets that assisted me in the event.

I will be taking my advice for the next month: Taking it easy.  Lots of time for Nature, for Meditation, and for Healing.  God knows we all need it….
