Weekly Astrology Report: Post-Solstice Purging
Week of Jan 7th-13th
“It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting your hearts longing. “
Monday: Moon in Scorpio
7th
…With a sense of in fresh territory laced with rebellious novel ideas, Mars–the Hero within–moves independently of his old ways. All the while, the black rider moves in the shadows, stalking his every move. This black rider is Saturn and he is not going to allow our Hero to just get away that easy. There are debts to pay. Patterns to change. Muscles to rebuild. Today, with Mars in Aquarius squaring Saturn in Scorpio, scantily lite by a dying Scorpio moOn, the feeling is one of haunting desire, latent frustration, and volcanic anger which disagrees. To not be scared by our anger or the ashes of the past, we must create a new vessel for us to travel in. To imagine what life would be like if we were stronger, sexier, more magical than ever before. Take all of your inspiration and attraction you feel towards others and put it into action for yourself!

a Unique Weekly Astrology Report
Into the Event Horizon!
“Nature loves courage. You make the commitment and nature will respond to that commitment by removing impossible obstacles. Dream the impossible dream and the world will not grind you under, it will lift you up. This is the trick. This is what all these teachers and philosophers who really counted, who really touched the alchemical gold, this is what they understood. This is the shamanic dance in the waterfall. This is how magic is done. By hurling yourself into the abyss and discovering its a feather bed.”
? Terence McKenna
We have almost arrived. But what does this mean? Is the Winter Solstice of 2012 going to be what we think it is going to be? Some kind of Ascension level event? An Apocalypse? A Quickening? Or is it going to be subtle dud? As we get closer, day by day, I search diligently within my Inner Cosmos looking for these answers, and what I find instead of cataclysm are clues relating to an Inner Alchemy. A fusion between opposites. A Syzygy!

Venus grows dim: Phase 2
“Some birds are not meant to be caged, that’s all. Their feathers are too bright, their songs too sweet and wild. So you let them go, or when you open the cage to feed them they somehow fly out past you” Stephen King
…An old woman walks in dusk through the buzzing city streets. She sees beautiful youthful versions of herself and reflects. On a bench, she looks West, watching Venus sparkle, noticing how she is dimmer than the night before. She thinks, “Something is being completed.”…
Journey towards gestation
As of May 15th, Venus has been retrograde. Meaning, she has begun her 16 day descent from the Evening sky, as the brightest “star” in the sky, and is heading towards the Sun, completing her cycle which began back in October of 2010. You can think of this phase of the Venus cycle as a full phase, a completion, much like a full moOn. Traveling back in time to fall of 10’, you will be able to get a clear idea of what the beginning of the Venus cycle was all about for you. (see my previous posts: Venus towards the Sun; Venus rx).
This current Venus cycle is imprinted by the Archetype of Scorpio. The reason for this is because she passed the Sun around Halloween 10’ in the tropical sign of Scorpio. When Venus passes in between the Earth and Sun, it represents the beginning of her journey. This is best understood visually. For example, Venus is now retrograde, falling from the early evening sky, getting dimmer day by day, and soon she will disappear. This happens because she is traveling in close proximity to the Sun. This represents a kind of gestation phase. This will happen at the end of the month (May 31st). During this “gestation” she will also transit the Sun on June 5th, yet, still be absent from both the evening and morning skys. It is not until mid June, when she reappears. This time, as a Morning Star. The Birth of Venus. The Return of Quetzalcoatl?
How she makes you feel?
Sad? Lonely? Afraid? It’s never easy to let go. But it always comes back to a simple phrase, “If you love something, give it away.” Whether it is a person, a pet, an addiction, whatever, it is ready to go. Now. Because this current Venus cycle relates to the Archetype of Scorpio, it relates directly to Death and Decay and the potential for Transformation. Whatever began to die in the Fall of 10’, is now dead; and whatever was born then, now shows its true face. We must be detached to both. The hardest part of dealing with Scorpio is facing all the fears. “I don’t wanna be alone!” “I can’t be alone.” “I’m afraid to change, to let go.” ….and the best, “I know its right, but I can’t.” Heres the catch: Unless we actively participate in the transformation of “______” in our lives, the planets/gods/archetypes will do it for us regardless. And trust me, from experience, it much easier to drink yage, attempt the transformation with your own will, than to have greater celestial energies make it happen for you.
We are in the window of Completion. Get clear about what it is you are releasing and mutating into. See the perfection of the pain you have been through in this cycle for the past 584 days (a Venus cycle). Find out where in your chart this is happening: what house, what aspects, etc….It’s important to know because it can help you contextualize your experience. There is also something quite magical about having the knowledge of your experiences perfection and timing. It’s one of the greatest gifts of Astrology! Kosmognosis = “kosmo”-relating to celestial phenomena; “gnosis”–true wisdom.
Gestation begins
The first day Venus disappears from the night sky is also the first day of her gestation. May 31st is this day. Shortly after, her new cycle begins. This one in Gemini. But she is still not visible until mid-June (the 14th? don’t quote me on this, its foggy). She will then rise before the Sun, every morning for around 260 days. Venus as a Morning star. The rise of the Gemini Goddess. Curious, fueled with a desire for novel experiences, hungry for new ideas and connections, liberated, she will change the world as we know it. Lay your old ideas aside, time is mutating, space too, and the new ideas coming at us faster than the speed of light.
…standing from her bench, the old woman smiles, remembering an old love. She thinks, “How hard it was to let him go, but how necessary it turned out to be.” She has never been a Lover without Love. She’s alone, but never alone. Sometimes those birds are just too bright. The ones that cannot be caged. There is always something waiting. You just need to let go. Ka wills it….. * For me, at the beginning of this Venus in Scorpio cycle, this song saved me. May it be of assistance to you too….~(~…..:::::

Venus turns to the Sun
“The ancient Sanskrit legends speaks of a destined love, a karmic connection between souls that are fated to meet and collide and enrapture one another. The legends say that the loved one is instantly recognized because she’s loved in every gesture, every expression of thought, every movement, every sound, and every mood that prays in her eyes. The legends say that we know her by her wings-the wings that only we can see-and because wanting her kills every other desire of love.
The same legends also carry warnings that such fated love may, sometimes, be the possession and the obsession of one, and only one, of two souls twinned by destiny. But wisdom in one sense, is the opposite of love. Love survives in us precisely because it isn`t wise.”

….there is a portal slowly opening. Shadows playing tricks on our minds and messing with vulnerable hearts. Love “outside” of us is changing. Novelty of Love is increasing. Old ways are dying, new ones being born. Same true for our Loves. Curiosity awakens in the collective. Venus–as conduit of Divine Love on Earth–is demanding an upgrade. There is also an echo in the ethers which sounds something like: “Be wise with your heart, be wiser with your mind, become an active participant…..”
Venus Retrograde In Gemini
On May 15th, Venus will go retrograde at 24 degrees Gemini. You can probably already sense something already. A shift in perspective? Values? Your relationship? If so, its because the cycle has already begun. We are in the Shadow period. We entered it on April 11th when Venus was at 7 degrees of Gemini. What is the shadow? It is the farthest back a planet will go in their retrograde motion. When a planet moves into a Shadow, the premonitions of what is to come begin. Subtle yet remaining profound. So what is this Venus retro period all about? Karmic Alchemy is what I would call it.

Karmic Alchemy
When a planet goes retrograde its energies redirect. This doesnt always mean inwards–though I feel the overall movement of energy does trigger deep reflection, its not necessarily just an inner celestial experiment. As an example, if money has been sluggish, when Venus goes retrograde (depending on where in your chart etc…) the flow will switch; it will no longer be sluggish. That would be the Taurean side of the Venusian coin. In another example: If you are in a relationship, the energies will redirect and you will reflect deeply on the nature of your connection with your beloved. Many times during Venus retro periods this meditation will be triggered by another person, another Soul who you can’t shake from your heart. A fated and karmic connection. This is the Libran influence of the cycle. Either way, it relates to Love and how it comes and goes.
…here a lil’ Libran gift from her side of the coin:
Venus retrograde marks the beginning of a Venus cycle. Its like a New Moon. When she turns towards the Sun, she slowly begins to fall from her hypnotizing Evening Star position in the West and heads into the darkness–the Underworld phase as some would call it–soon to emerge days after as the Morning star in the East. This passage is called the Inferior conjunction in the cycle and relates to the birth of Venus and the Transit of Venus to the Sun you have probably heard about (I’ll talk more about this in future blogs). As Venus heads towards the Sun in her retrograde fashion (respectively May 15th until June 6th) it is a powerful time for release. Whether it be old habits or old lover’s, the immanence of this necessity will be blatantly obvious. You won’t be able to ignore it. It has a fated quality to it. The Universe gains for control. And so we must accept, continue to reflect, and watch it all unravel in its Divine perfection. Always, years down the road, in retrospect we will be able to see the perfection. Just not always while we are in it.
Now for the Alchemy part. Old patterns die hard; as do profound relationships. But what needs to be understood is that nothing is dying, it is just changing. Energy cannot be created or destroyed. It just changes forms. Remembering that Venus relates to Love, Beauty, Symmetry and Balance, we can see deeper into the universal lovliness actually happening. If we can fully remember and stay connected to our hearts during this cycle, unattached, watching, remembering what Love actually is, then we will have the capacity to evolve light years throughout the cycle; if we forget this, remain attached, and give our power to the things we love and the people we attach love too, it is likely misery will be knocking on your door. So stand open, be alert for the signs, don’t ignore connections and most of all: “…wisdom in one sense, is the opposite of love. Love survives in us precisely because it isn`t wise.” A Koan!
The Bigger picture
I am quite aware of my omission of much of this Venus cycle information. I didn’t talk about the Transit of the Sun and its implications. I didn’t mention the implications of her birth as a Morning star, nor did I talk about her stationary Direct implications and what happens once released from the whole cycle. Also, this particular Venus cycle has a special meaning to many cultures in the world, including the Maya. I plan on exploring this with you too. So stay tuned….and stay open to what/who awaits you in the blissful days to come.
And here is a tune to get you excited. A sigil. A prayer. A stir. Rising Appalachia:
