The Osha Wolf: “Emergence from an Aries moON”

The Osha Wolf: “Emergence from an Aries moON”

“Like a true Nature’s child, we were born, born to be wild”

Steppenwolf by Herman Hesse

…Monday afternoon, just after the moOn moved into Aries, moving her way slowly and patiently towards her Full phase, I decided to drive to the high country, in search of the sacred ‘bear medicine’–Osha. Deep in process, reflecting on a series of cathartic events that have recently shook me to the bone, I was surrounded by beauty, synchronicity, and the feeling of de ja vu, as I ascended up those rocky slopes .  I remember thinking about the Pluto/Uranus square–”the 2012 aspect”–  feeling how Uranus truly relates to a “breakthrough vs. breakdown” dynamic in our lives right now, wherever it is transiting in our charts.  It made perfect sense me. Pluto brings the Fear and the necessity of emotional transformation, and the square to Uranus, is the opportunity for our “big breakthrough.”  Drunk on this idea, I then arrived to Hesse trailhead.  Blade in hand, in the crisp air of the high country of Colorado, I took my first step into the Wild, seeking out this sacred Osha medicine…..

It is said:

“Wolves are the epitome of the wild spirit. Their positive characteristics are so numerous it is no wonder that Native Americans and others practically deified them. They symbolize power, clan, honor, and the connection to Nature’s greatest mysteries. The wolf is the true spirit of the free and unspoiled wilderness.”

from Ted Andrews “Animal Speak

One of the main reasons for my trip–aside from the search for Osha–was to clear my head.  Having just experienced a burning back draft of an unfortunate secret I reluctantly decided to keep from a dear friend, I was needing time for process with Nature, and the wild energies that never forget to help us in our healing. LIke the boomerang of karmic service that Saturn offers, it was also apparent to me, that the Full moON which was in the process of formation, was intimately involved with Saturn, because of its conjunction with the Sun in Libra.  There have been a few conjunction aspects to Saturn over the past weeks: Venus/Saturn on Sept. 29th; Mercury/Saturn on Oct. 6th, and then, the soon to be Sun/Saturn conjunction this Thursday, Oct. 13th.  The essence of any Planetary Archetype who makes contact with Saturn is Alignment to Truth. With Venus it relates to our Values and Love; with Mercury it is Mental Discipline; with the Sun its Purpose and Integrity.  I’m sure you have also been feeling these heavy, constricting, and mature energies as of late.  And…this is where I was at, as I took my first steps into the river valley.  Questioning myself: “Where have I lived outside of integrity;” “How have I lost my honor;” “Where is my love;” “Where is my Heart….” These were my questions, just moments before my great discovery.

When harvesting Osha ((Ligusticum porteri), you must be overly aware of other Ligusticum plants and look a likes, in the carrot/parsley families.  The reason for this is because Water Hemlock is one of them, and it is a plant that can easily kill you, if ingested in sufficient amounts.  Being that the first frost has happened, there are no longer leaves or flowers on any of the plants–just seeds left over.  If you are not aware of the seed differences between these plants, you are in for a Fool’s errand.  Luckily, I have been properly schooled on this subject, so I wasn’t worried–though, I will admit, once I discovered three different varieties of this family growing next to each other, I became a bit doubtful.  Still confident enough in my plant knowledge, I found a proper Osha stand, and choose my plant.  Saying prayers, asking the plant if it was alright for me to harvest here, I got my botanical intuitive nod, and went in.

The moment my blade struck the earth, there was a monstrous ruffle in the bushes, and I jumped back!!! Osha is also referred to as “Bear root,” and the split second adrenal rush I experienced was full of red vision scare, thinking I was about to be mauled by a bear, protecting his medicine.  But I was wrong.  Instead, a pure white wolf dog appears, wearing no collar.  He stops just feet from me, silent, staring, psychically communicating a special message into my heart.  It was a two fold message:

1. You have found the root.  I am its messenger for you today.

2. You are a Lone wolf.  You always have been….Just look: “You are on Hesse trailhead…” Remember reading Herman Hesse’s ‘Steppenwolf’, the world is not random.  It’s perfect.  And you are remembering.”

Startled by this message, but drawn to the Spirit of this animal, I moved forward to connect more.  But he would not allow it.  He began barking frantically, attracting the attention of a passing woman on the trail (I thought I was alone).  Turns out, the woman who was walking, was just seconds ago, thinking about her old wolf dog who had died a few months prior.  She said this wolf dog was nearly identical to her own. And so we shared magical stories, harvested the Osha together, and moved on. Once she departed, a deeper layer of my journey revealed itself.  It was a lesson of the pack–the wolf pack!

For the past 7 months, I have been living with two Wolf dogs up in the mountains, with Twin owners, who also embody “Wolf medicine.” Living there, laughing there, healing there, I have learned many lessons around the idea of “Community” and “Pack.” Lessons that I will never forget.  Being the Lone wolf spirit that I have always been, it was good for me to experience.  But unfortunately, there are aspects of myself that are fully sacrificed living in such a way.  My solitude, my truth, my long journey’s alone into Inner space, which no doubt atrophy when sacrificed for social wings. And for some unknown reason, a series of unfortunate events had to occur, creating a rift around a wound, to force a shift in the role I have in the Wolf pack.  Howling at the moON, I saw it, I see it, and I accept.  The healing is nearly complete, as long as I am forever seeing into the nature of my mind and heart, through those piercing eyes of the Osha wolf.

….the pregnant Aries moON illuminates to road ahead.  Don’t be afraid to howl.  And definitely, have no fear of the Wolves who await you.

Torn between Worlds: Jupiter opposes Saturn

Torn between Worlds: Jupiter opposes Saturn

…: Late March 2011 Cosmic Weather

(It’s been awhile since I have posted, and I apologize, but Transition has been twirling me around by my top knot!)

As I write, the moON is at 4 degrees Aquarius, conjunct Palles Athene.  The Intellectual burst has arrived.  I’m ready to inform you about the exciting week we have ahead.

Today: March 28th

Saturn opposes Jupiter:

….this is the third Opposition of their 20 year cycle of Expansion and Contraction.  The first happened on the 22nd of May, 2010, and it happened at 27 Pisces/Virgo.  It was the entrance into the turbulent Summer months, where we were all testing our abilities to Redefine our borders, and to push beyond thee ol’ envelope in terms of what our Lives could look like.  The 2nd happened at the end of the Summer, on August 16th, at 2 degrees Aries/Libra.  The Change we were after was being tested–on a Global scale and also on our Personal spheres.  Now, its happening again, this time at 14 degrees Aries/Libra!!!

And…..What does it mean?

I recently read an article that was posted on a Scienctific website (maybe NASA website… sorry I don’t have the link, but you could ask the “Oracle), and the author of the article was talking about how this aspect is what causes the Earth to act up, in unexpected ways: Earthquakes, Floods, Volconoes etc…..The reason for this is the gravitational pull that exists between Saturn and Jupiter: the two biggest planetary bodies in our Solar System.  Oppositions create tension.  They are literally opposed to each other, pulling as if they were in a cosmic match of tug of war, and the Earth in in the center of the rope–a little pea at the midpoint. This is one way of looking at this transit, yet, another is on a more Archetypal level; one that is dancing in the invisible landscape of our hearts and minds.

When Jupiter and Saturn come together, they create the Star of Bethlehem.  It is the “star” that the 3 Wise men saw, that brought them to little baby Jesus.  It is a transit, that marks the beginning of a “sub-age” in a sense.  Jupiter begins testing the limitations and the Laws that Saturn has created and is always trying to uphold.  Jupiter represents Expansion of Mind and Spirit, and Saturn in the contraction, and the need to hold onto tradition and “what is.” As they move throughout their cycle, our world slowly changes.  Being that this cycle began in the Spring of 2000, in the wake of Y2k, we are now witnessing the Manifestation of the seed Idea that was planted in the Collective mind back then.  What was it? Fear? Computer mind? Technological hope for the cure of the world? Post post modernity? Whatever it was–or is–we are experiencing the fruition of the cycle….Today!!! Personally, I think it is a bunch of thangs, but could be summed up as: Electronic Social Media.  it has completely changed the world, and the way in which we communicate and are educated.  Shall continue–exponentially, into the Future!!!

…..Now, there is also a New moOn awaiting us on the 3rd of April, and it is in Aries.

What this means is that the polarity that naturally exists between Jupiter and Saturn right now, is a bit favored by Jupiter’s side!!! Why is this? Because there is a party in the Tropical sign of Aries right now: Sun, Moon, Uranus, Mars, Jupiter, Mercury, and the Trans-personal planet Eris. They are all supporting Jupiter’s pull towards victory.  There are no planets currently in Libra, assisting Saturn and his cold, desperate tugging. Aries is all about Personal Freedom and Creativity.  Libra, at its essence, is “Other.” Because of this, it tends to relate strongly to our Relationships in life–our Intimate relationships!!! Meaning…..Love shall be tested.  The whole world is experiencing this transit, and we are all being called to our True Selves.  If our Lover’s are limiting this Call, they will be left in the dust. On the plus side, many new alliances shall be formed.  If we pay attention to this Call of the Wild, we will find those who have been waiting for us all along. Also, I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t a sexual time.  All of these planets in Aries, being supported by the birds and bees buzzing, our lower chakras, our animal nature is being rekindled.  We are awakening.  Mars is dancing and stomping in blurring circles around his primordial fire, getting ready for the changes that await us.  Be prepared, be eager, and be careful….because Mercury is about to go Retrograde!!!

Mercury Retrograde in Aries

(March 30th–April 23rd; 24 Aries–12 Aries)

There is nothing be afraid of.  Mercury Retrograde is an essential seasonal time for us to Reflect, Reconfigure, and Repeat many patterns we have skimmed over while he has been Direct.  Of course, it is always wise to back up your computer, fix your machines, and reorganize your house, but its not the essence of the Retro cycle.  The ultimate purpose is Re-visit and Remember.  There are no shortcuts in Life.  They only slow us down.  So….with Mercury being Retrograde in the midst of the Aries party–dancing around Eris especially– we are faced with our own personal Discordia (our Chaos!) Eris is the Goddess of Discord, and represents many of the Lost parts of our Psyche.  We are challenged to put together a puzzle of Self in the midst of raging Fires while walking upon hot, blistering lava flow.  I intuit that we will feel Time speeding up in the next 3 weeks.  We will be inspired, we will fall in Love, and we will be making lots of mistakes.  It’s ok.  Forgive yourself now! Life is too short for regrets.  Just know, there is a reason for all of your mistakes: they are Teachers, and no amount of money or time could ever replace our stupid mistakes in Life.

In summation,

Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.

Rumi

Transit of the day: Venus retrograde (27 Libra). "The Tearjerker"

Transit of the day: Venus retrograde (27 Libra). "The Tearjerker"

(in response the many suggestions on bringing more Transits into both the blog and podcast, I would like to introduce “Transit of the Day.” When I’m not doing topic related posts, I will be blogging specific transits. Sound good?).

Venus went retrograde on the 9th of October at 13 Scorpio. This annual experience–of Venus appearing to move backwards in the sky–creates a backward spiral within us too. Old relationships emerge, forgotten faces come back into lives, vital ones (thank God for Facebook), and our relationships are tested–bank accounts too.  Its a time of “going back” to what is either missed or unfinished.  Venus retro in Scorpio brings up all our unconscious fears we have of abandonment, being alone, and fessing up to our own “f*cked up sh*t.” She implodes our awareness directly to the source of our problems, no questions asked.  This particular retrograde experience has been special for two main reasons:

1. Venus went all the way into Libra (her own sign) this retrogradation cycle, a sign in which Saturn currently resides.  Venus is the lord of Saturn, and now they share the same Sign.  What does this mean? It only strengthens the already challenging experience of Venus retrograde; it makes it more “serious” perhaps–for all Libran content considered. Personally, I have been witnessing great peril in relationships.  People are breaking up.  I guess its inevitable when we are forced against our wills (this transit) to reassess much of who we are.  Venus relates to our Value systems.  And so, this reevaluation of what we deem important in our lives is on the table –so to speak. As far as relationships are concerned: if you are brave enough to make it “work,” “Make it work.” The challenge is great, but you can do it.  For all those who feel they need to flee, Flee, its probably right.  There are new dynamics dawning for all of us.  When Venus goes Direct tomorrow (27 Libra) I feel all us will be seeing Beauty in our lives we were missing today.  New eyes for our Love and Money.

2. The Scorpio New moON we are currently riding out (it was on the 5th of Nov.) occurred within 2 degrees of where Venus went Retrograde.  This is an interesting point.  Its as if Venus dropped a crumb–something the Sun and moON would recognize-so that we would be able to track her down.  She was kidnapped by Scorpio (Pluto/Hades).  (Sounds a bit like a certain Myth I know….[ie. abduction into the Underworld, spring and fall.....]).  So, the New moOn was our chance to begin the search for Venus: the source of all Beauty in our lives. It was our chance to under-mind the worst parts of our personality, and transform them into productive perennial flowerings. The Full moOn is on Sunday.  Prepare yourselves for this overflowing experience of a Taurus Full mOOn. Watch closely, and celebrate. The MOon nectar is rising. Beauties abound.

Sweet sweet Venus, reveal your Truth for all the world to see…

…inspired by Venus?…. wanna go deeper with this material in your own chart? Ask me for a Reading, I won’t say no–I promise.

Plutonic Love: 7th house, Venus, and Libra

Plutonic Love: 7th house, Venus, and Libra

“I need to have them–they are all I can think of–I can’t live without them; can’t imagine breathing without them!” Spoken from the Plutonic heart which lives in us all. With Pluto in the 7th, it is devastatingly emphasized–this foolish heart that cannot control itself.  Pluto involved with Venus makes us desire to sacrifice it all on the alter of Love–with our hearts as the centerpiece (next to the roses)–only to be let down by absence of our beloveds when the ceremony begins. Helplessness and pain drips into the heart. Longing and sad Love songs take up our time. We must avoid setting ourselves up, only to be let down.  Lets allow Jeff Green to illuminate:

Pluto in the Seventh House or Libra: emotional trauma can occur to these individuals for the following cause:
1. When life conditions occur in which they are forced to realize that the sense of purpose and meaning that they are looking for is not embodied in another person, but is within themselves. These individuals’ core sense of identity and security is bound up, linked with, the desire and need to be in intimate relationships. At key points in their lives these individuals will experience fundamental breakdowns, confrontations, or cataclysmic loss within their existing relationship. This has the effect of forcing them in on themselves in order to learn to grow from within themselves, not through and because of another person. The compulsion of co-dependency is shattered.
When Pluto transits the Seventh House, forms stressful aspects through transit to Venus, to the planetary ruler of the Seventh House, or to planets within the natal Seventh House it can generate such conditions within existing partnerships with the subsequent trauma.

The greatest remedy for Pluto is Libra?: Playing it cool…

Love’s blossom can always fade quick if you are looking for it outside yourselves.  If Pluto is transiting through your 7th house, be carefull.  No need to fall so fast you hit your chin–its a better idea to just play it cool.  Never invest your own Soul for another until they have done the same for you.  Don’t be a Fool; don’t obsess.  It is exactly what Pluto wants from you.  Avoid it at all costs.  Become aware of this emotional Need, and use any weapons you got against the possession: mantras, visualizations, sheilds, armors, or venusian heart protecters. Its vital you are proctected and aware of the Summoning of Plutonic Love.  It will get you every time if you watching close.

When understood (the true power of this combo), we can sink into the mysterious depths of Tantric Love and complete and seamless Union with another.  The Soul Reunion is then complete.

(…it takes practice.  Its the Dragon work>)

Our relationship to relationships

Our relationship to relationships

……………Right on, I’ve been invited to blog on aKosmic Mind.

So I’ve been thinking about when I’m going to fall in love (I’ve had so many dreams that it’s just around the corner). And so I’ve naturally been looking at my chart to find possible dates and time periods of when this will happen.

That’s a dangerous thing to do. We won’t talk about that now. I want to share with you some other things I’ve been thinking of about. In particular: How to understand our relationsihp to relationsihps through the natal chart.

The most basic starting point is Venus. Venus correlates to our inner relationship to ourself. It defines our self esteem, what we value, how we give ourself what we need; it’s our deep interior. Therefore, the outer side of Venus symbolizes the kind of people we will attract into our life as a natural reflection of how we relate to ourselves (inner side of Venus).

It’s a great thing to do. Take your natal Venus and see if you can recognize how that natal Venus describes your “inner ear” how to listen to your deepest needs. And then, notice how that impacts on the kind of relationship dynamics you have attracted into your life.

Beyond Venus I’ve been looking at some other very obvious relationship significators that most folks tend to ignore. This being the Decsendant. The descendant is who we become through intimacy- it naturally implies a lack of self knowing, as relationship is required in order to discover oneself. Therefore the DC (descendant) symbolizes who we become through intimacy. The more we cultivate a knowing of other, the more we will cultivate awareness of ours-elf- and that awareness will be a reflection of our dc. Think of it this way. Everyone talks about the ascendant right? Well the ascendant, naturally correlating to the Aries archetype, is all about how a soul individuates its very existence in life, on it’s own terms. The DC is the very opposite of that.

Another fun thing to note:

Did you know that any planet like Mercury, or Neptune, or the Sun can play a super significant role in your relationship to relationships? How so? Simply, the sign on your DC is, is ruled by a planet (i.e if your DC is Pisces, then Neptune is the ruler of your DC). And thus that planet is the facilitator for our relationships.

If we look to the ruler of our DC, we will understand the kind of people we will be interacting with- who we will attract into our life/be attracted to as a means to know ourselves more. . Therefore learning how to be emotionally grounded in yourself, so that you you can attract a partner that can actually give you what you need, would be an important first step towards attracting a partner.

Or, if you have Gemini on the DC and your Mercury is in the 9th house, you will attract a partner that you can learn with/ explore a wide range of ideas with. The nature of these ideas will be about understanding the inherent truths behind creation. You and your partner would likely learn (Gemini) by traveling, having big discussions about big things, explore practices/ share the same Guru. It’s also likely that you will seek a partner with whom who can teach, or publish (9th house) with etc…  The lesson to learn with this configuration would be to be committed to discern (Mercury) what is true and what isn’t true via your own direct experience (9th house) so that you and your partner can learn via direct exploration, and not have intellectual debates/arguments about who is right (Gemini via Mercury in 9th).
