On May 15th, Venus will turn Retrograde in close proximity to El Nath, the northern tip of the horn of Taurus–the Bull–beginning her long journey and transformation into her Morning Star phase.  In my last post on Venus I talked extensively on what Venus retrograde represents (HERE) and in this post I would like to bring it to a whole other level.  Using Fixed stars and the observable motions of this Venus cycle, I shall attempt to bring more meaning to this transit. In five parts (this being #1) I will bring you through the entire Venus synodic cycle with the intention of bringing deeper meaning to her stellar geometric dance and how it relates to the rebirth of the Goddess into the world.

EL NATH

 

Venus’ station at 24 Gemini, in close proximity to El Nath marks the beginning of the end of her current cycle which began back in October of 2010.  The current Venus cycle relates to the Scorpio Goddess.  Essentially 19 months of deeply investigating–in penetrating fashion–all of our desires, relationships, secrets and darkness is coming to an end. If you think back to then, you will probably get hit with the realization of, “Damn, that was a really dark time…” (from Oct–Nov 10’).  In my observations, I saw lots of betrayal, secretive affairs, falling into despairing addiction, and flat out depression from many people in my life–including clients.  For those of you who did not experience this, you are the exception to the rule.  It’s probably in your chart.  And now, as Venus is in her maximum brightness as an Evening star we are experiencing a culmination of the energies that came at us  during that period.  Sit with it…….:::: How does now, relate to then? Is there some kind of closure happening for you with it? (I bet there is…..keep thinking)

Personally, I don’t do a lot of work with Fixed stars, but every once in a while I’ll get the charge to take a peek.  I received such a charge today. This entire Venus cycle happens in the head of the Bull (sidereal Taurus).  Starting on El Nath, moving back to Aldebaran “the eye of the bull,” and forward again, passing through the horns–El Hecka and El Nath. It’s important to note that this area of the sky is called the Hyades.  Along with the Pleiades, these two star systems are among the most stunning stars to gaze upon in the night sky. The two in combination create the constellation of Taurus. Being that Venus will be traveling around the head of the bull “the loins of the Goddess” I feel its important to get an idea of the nature of these stars.  For starters, lets look at El Nath.

“El Nath is the tip of the [northern] horn…. It was viewed as the force of the Bull, thereby having power over the waters or blood of life…. [It] is a weapon which can be used for good or for ill.”¹²

 “El Nath among the Hindus represented Agni, the god of fire…also the similar Hutabhuj, the Devourer of the Sacrifice.”¹¹

 “Astrologers said that El Nath portended eminence and fortune to all who could claim it as their natal star.”¹³

Two ages ago ( ca. 4300 BC and ended in ca. 2150 BC.) was the Age of the Bull.  Civilizations around the world worshipped the Bull and would lay sacrifice to this sacred animal to assist men in relieving their sins and to give them greater power. It was also a time when the Goddess was still worshipped along side the Earth. Then came the Age of the Lamb (Aries), which destroyed polytheism and funneled it into one god, one head (Aries)–ie. Moses and his condemnation of his people worshiping the “golden calf.”  2,000 years later (some say 1 AD) came the “spiritual” age of the Fishes (Pisces). Jesus helped usher this age into being–this is the Age we are now stepping out of into the Age of Aquarius.  In looking back, its fascinating to see how these Precessional Cycles overlap into the affairs of men.  My curiosity in the moment though, is why Venus is stationing on El Nath and spending so much time there (around 19 days within 3 degrees).  Is she asking for a sacrifice? Is she looking for a greater weapon or skill to wield? Or is she reminding us of a time long lost through the ages? Perhaps this transit does relate to the rebirth of the Goddess into the Collective like so many astrologer’s are talking about?

If you read my first post on Venus you will remember how Venus retrograde periods relate to the ushering in of karmic relational contracts.  It’s a real phenomena.  Again, think back to the Fall of 10’.  Who did you meet and who did you release?  And within the complicated matrix of relationship dynamics, we all have our own “weapons.” : silence, coldness, screaming, spite, jealousy, revenge, slander, put-downs, arguing, arrogance, greed etc, etc, etc……These are all relationship weapons. With all subtleties aside, its important to wonder why? Why is it so challenging for relationships to work in our time? What is different? Perhaps….its the slow emergence of the sacred feminine again.  For too long have we lived in a patriarchal world subduing the power of the feminine. And according to many astrologer’s and culture’s around the globe, this particular Venus cycle relates to the re-emergence of the Sacred Feminine into the world. During this re-emergence, perhaps we shall see a slow and steady shift of how our relationships are conducted.  Not just with each other, but with the planet too!

Venus will be retrograde until June 27th.  There are a handful of important events set to occur from now until then.  When Venus is retrograde she is also moving her fastest.  She also reaches her perigee closet to the Sun during this phase.  What this creates is the feeling of time speeding up.  With two Eclipses also happening in the same constellation, it is not far reaching for me to say that the coming months are going to be some of the most eventful times of our lives. May we call on Mother Earth to assist us in this energetic shifting. In the end, its all just speculation.  I’m not going to pretend to know exactly what this Venus cycle is fully about.  There are things you know and things you don’t.  Parts of this subject matter are so big and so vast, it just blows my mind. I just find it interesting and worthy of noting that she is traveling in the Hyades “the Head of Taurus.”  It is my deep prayer for an activation, a revealing of how our relationship to the Feminine, to the Earth, to the Bull has been thwarted over the ages. May we all pray for this healing.

…As Venus falls night after night from her stunning post in the Western sky, the Hyades cry tears of sorrow…or is that joy.  You cannot tip a Bull, nor can you change the past.  Remember love and make that last….

There is something extraordinary about this week.  The way we relate to the world is changing. Seven days of perceptual mutation is upon us.  There are two major celestial events about to occur: Venus turning retrograde and an Annular Solar Eclipse.  Venus starting off the week, the Eclipse ending it.  Even though these transits have yet to occur, I’m sure you can already feel it.  Riding off a few rough patches at the end of last week (esp….Thursday eve and Friday morning,  felt by the Moon squaring Saturn) we are now being ignited by windy intellectual fires.  And so, here is my new idea: Weekly reports. The goal: To assist you in both planning and understanding your coming days. It is my hope that it brings you more context and meaning to your life.

 

…the prayer: To realize how our Inner world creates our Outer world.  To see into the nature of a Hologram.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Monday:

Having already passed the 3rd quarter phase of this Lunation cycle, the Moon in mid Pisces harmonizes with Black Moon Lilith via a sextile and prepares for a serious squaring palaver with Venus shortly before she turns retrograde.  Monday is potent day offering much reflection on what came up for us during the Super Moon in Scorpio.  When she is activated through the sextile aspect by Black Moon Lilith, I feel we will all be confronted with the shadow of our Inner Feminine nature.  This may bring up issues around sex and sexuality. It may also create a potent increase in our untamed animal spirit within. Think twice before acting on unhealthy urges.  Luckily, Mercury is trining Pluto on this sensuous battlefield giving us the capacity to see deeply into the nature of our Unconscious Mind.  These patterns we are having trouble seeing may become more apparent today.

 

Tuesday:

 

Tuesday is an auspicious day for a meditation during the Spirit hours.  Between 3-5 in the morning are said to be the most sacred times for Spiritual practice.  I can vouch for this.  If you have never tried, this Tuesday morning may be the greatest time to attempt it.  The Moon will sextile Jupiter in these early hours assisting the calm traveler to find a perfect activation point into the deeper more profound realms within.  Shortly after the Sun rises, Venus will turn to the Sun in her retrograde motion.  It will be good to have a visionary boon to hold onto throughout this Venus cycle.  Its going to be an stimulating ride. Tuesday afternoon, the Moon also  moves into Aries.  She will then conjoin with Uranus.  This is a day of insight, preparation, and electric change. A time for envisioning.

 

Wednesday:

 

What was intoxicating yesterday is now a challenging memory today.  The MoOn will still be in Aries, giving us the strength and courage to manifest the mystical downloads from Tuesday, but the Moon does make a frustrating square to Pluto.  A test on our ability to stay true to what we learned less than 24 hours ago.  Mars, who is ruling this Aries Moon steps onto the field with weapons aside and chest out high and faces Pluto via a trine.  This is a helpful aspect running parallel to the Pluto/Moon square because when Mars trines Pluto it gives us the urge to eliminate and purify aspects of our life.  Not only the urge but the power to do so. Whatever we saw on Tuesday in our meditation wants to be truly eliminated today.

 

Thursday:

 

If you are one of those helpless romantics in world, endlessly searching for your “soulmate” then today will be a day of interest for you.  Seemingly everything worthy of note Thursday relates to Love.  In the late degrees of Aries, the Moon opposes Saturn in Libra.  Saturn asks us with a stern gaze, “Have you been responsible with your heart?” “Or, have you been a reckless arrow pointed away from yourself and not in?” The Moon will also sextile Venus who is now moving retrograde, having already opened the karmic portal of Love and Love lost.  Juno, who relates to Soul contracts moves into Scorpio and Palles Athene moves into Aries.  With both of these asteroid Goddesses moving into Martian/Masculine signs on the same day, its hard not to come to the conclusion that some sexual force is at work here.  A helpful idea: Sexual energy doesn’t just need to be used for sex or gratification, it can also be used for spiritual growth, creativity, and healing.  Sit with this. It’s your koan for today.

 

Friday:

Whether you are the partying type or not, this Friday isn’t the best day for celebration. It is going to feel like an internal one for many.  A day of dreaming, reflecting, and ultimately healing.  As the Moon moves into Taurus and begins her balsamic homestretch into the mysterious New Moon/Total Solar Eclipse, there are some serious questions we are going to be posed with.  When the Moon sextiles Neptune in the early hours of the day, we will think: “Am I living my dream? “Am I in alignment with my visions?” Later in the day, the Moon will do the same with Chiron and we may think, “How am I overcompensating in my life?” “How am I living out of integrity with what I know that I am?” And lastly, the Moon will trine Pluto giving us the support to release, die, and be born again.  All those little death’s, side by side, breathing in, breathing out: Don’t fear death, it is just a doorway.  Find silence somewhere today and deeply reflect on these questions.

 

Saturday:

 

Saturday is a day of complete embodiment.  As the MoOn wanes closer to the Sun and disappears from sight, she makes a few important visitations.  The MOon makes three conjunctions today in mid-Taurus: to Mercury, Black Moon Lilith, and Ceres–one androgynous being, two Goddesses.  Mercury is going to enhance our perceptual acuity, offering us a direct link into the heart of “the matter;” Lilith will be waiting in sexy earth based attire, ready to show us a thing or two about sexual power and its proper usage; Ceres may be in the garden where she will give us the deep intuition of the importance of earth based living via organic metaphor.  Being this is the last day of the Lunation cycle, think back to the Super Moon (May 5th) and try to remember what came up for you then.  What was the seed you planted on the New mooN (April 21st)? And where are you at now? Can you see the Moon’s magic?

 

Sunday:

 

Today is the day of the Total Solar Eclipse.  An Annular Solar Eclipse at zero degrees Gemini.  Zero degree points are said to be critical points.  Fated events can occur on Zero degree points.  But before the Eclipse even occurs, the MoOn pays a visit to the Guru (Jupiter).  Whatever is learned in the hours before the Eclipse from the Moon/Jupiter conjunction it is going to be of great use when the Dragon hole opens. The Annular Eclipse of the Sun is upon us. An annular eclipse occurs when the Sun and Moon are exactly in line, but the apparent size of the Moon is smaller than that of the Sun. Hence the Sun appears as a very bright ring, or annulus, surrounding the outline of the Moon. Eclipses happen during New (Solar Eclipse) and Full (Lunar Eclipse) Moons.  They occur because of the lunation’s proximity to the Nodes of the Moon. The hungry Dragon’s Rahu and Ketu.  This Eclipse happens within 5 degrees of to South node in Gemini.  South Node Eclipse’s are different than North Node Eclipses in that they relate to “release” and “completion” in contrast too the “obtaining” and “worldly manifestations” of a North Node Eclipse. I like to relate to Eclipses as “Dragon Holes” where energy converges in a profound way–perhaps multidimensionally–to assist in the speeding up of our evolution on planet Earth. Aside from the psychological implications of what this means for human beings, Eclipses–esp Solar Eclipses–tend to have a profound impact on the Earth and her creatures too, creating strange weather–even Earthquakes! Think about it like this: Sun is light and life; Moon is dark and night.  In the middle of the day, the Moon Eclipses the Sun, creating darkness on the planet.  It interferes with the flow of life.  Birds go to bed.  Creatures become confused.  Human’s stare into it and go blind.  Its magical.  Its mysterious. It’s dark.  And this particular one has my Gemini mind in an explosive storm of inspiration.

The eclipse falls at 00 degrees of Gemini.  This is important to note for 2 main reasons:

1. 00 degree Gemini: The 0 and 29 degrees are more crisis-oriented points, especially in predictive work.

2. Alcyone:

Called “The Central One”, Alcyone is the central or main star and also the largest star of the Pleiades or Seven Sisters, the seven stars that are situated on the shoulder blade of the Bull. Q: What could the crisis be?

A: One in Consciousness

 

Its like:

A university professor went to visit a famous Zen master. While the master quietly served tea, the professor talked about Zen. The master poured the visitor’s cup to the brim, and then kept pouring. The professor watched the overflowing cup until he could no longer restrain himself. “It’s overfull! No more will go in!” the professor blurted. “You are like this cup,” the master replied, “How can I show you Zen unless you first empty your cup.”

 

I feel this Eclipse is similar to this infamous Zen story.  Our ideas about what reality are about  to be blasted wide open. It may be subtle, but it will no doubt be profound and in perfect timing for the wild Summer ahead. We live in a world texting while driving, watching the tv not thinking, and drugged while sleeping.  Are we really prepared for the “Ascension.”  Are we really ready for “the World to End?” For science to save us and heal the Earth.  I’m not going to pretend to know, but I will just playfully say: Hell NO! Lol…..All three of these memes (ascension, Armageddon, and scientific saviors) may come close, but my intuition tells me none are true.  I think its stranger than we can suppose.  This is what this Gemini Eclipse is all about: Mind blowing realizations.  Perceptual downloads of another kind.  Divine moments of Truth through a breath.  The awakening of Gnosis through Symbiosis!

I have been calling 2o12 the “Year of the Gemini” for a few reasons.  This Eclipse is one of them.  The Lunar Eclipse in Sag/Gemini on the 4th of June is another.  Venus transiting the Sun is yet another.  And lastly, Jupiter’s ingress into Gemini is going to be the laced cherry on the celestial cake.  If you are a Gemini or have any planet in Gemini, pay heed, this is important.  Its also quite active for anyone with Mutable signs (Sag, Virgo, Pisces). For the rest of you, well….I’m sorry, you are left out……  I kid…..where it is happening in your chart is important too! Is the Gemini party happening in your 2nd house? If so, your ideas around money are going to be reprogrammed.  In the 7th? Your relationship model shall transform through the Universe activating your curiosity about that magical person you met via synchronicity just other day, perhaps testing your current relationship.  We live in mercurial times.  Changing fast and constantly. Embrace it.  You can’t control it.  Grows wings like Alcyone and catch the updrafts!

 

Neptune’s T

 

There is an Aspect happening to this Eclipse that brings us deeper into this idea of mind expanding glee. It is mystical Neptune squaring the Eclipse, creating a T-square aspect. A T-square is a relationship between 3 or more planets.  2 opposing each other (in this case the Nodes of the Moon (Gemini to Sag; Facts vs. Experience) and then 1 planet squaring the opposition.  The planet that squares the opposition (Neptune) creates both a conflict and hopefully a resolution to the polarity.  In sense, it brings us into a non-dual state.  Weightless.  Without fight.  What is Neptune in Pisces asking us to do to solve this existential crisis? It’s simple: Dream a dream that fills you to the brim with ecstasy.  Without a dream, without a myth to live by, we become rudderless.  When we are rudderless without hope or vision, we turn to the bottle.  Escapism is the key word here with Neptune.  What do you do to escape the Truth? Where do you go when you wanna find the Truth? Ask yourselves these questions from now until the Eclipse and do what you are afraid of.  You will be rewarded. You cannot escape these Dragon’s!!! Rahu and Ketu are watching you.  Align with the Neptune’s lesson and you align with God, riding the severed Dragon into the night.

 

….our traveler passes the liquor store and feels the pull.  A pull greater than any woman.  He continues walking, remembering his vision.  He has seen his Truth!!! Why ruin it!? He hears music in the distance, turns, and walks towards it…..

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I find it intriguing that Jupiter and Mercury will also be widely conjunct this Eclipse.  Jupiter and Mercury relate to “vision, thoughts, ideas, beliefs, gods, religions, philosophies, trips, and travels” and they also rule the Nodes of the Moon currently (Gemini and Sagittarius).  This means they are facilitating the entire process. Mercury the main maestro, being he rules Gemini.  Their positioned in the sign of Taurus, less than 10 degrees away from the Eclipse. They are watching close.  It’s as if they are on a chariot riding behind the MoOn, making sure everything works out perfectly, sprinkling ambrosia and amrita on the world below. sOMa.  We are in a dream within a dream within a dream.  How do we wake up? Pick up up their gifts, falling from the sky of mind.

 

Before I burn out your synapses, I will force myself to a teasing halt.  I’m excited.  There is much more to talk about.  For instance: What is the Myth of Alcyone all about? How does it relate? There is a powerful Mutual reception in this Eclipse chart.  What is it? What does it mean? And much more….But I will save it for the future.  And what exactly is that? I have yet to find the words to explain it.

….there is a portal slowly opening.  Shadows playing tricks on our minds and messing with vulnerable hearts.  Love “outside” of us is changing.  Novelty of Love is increasing.  Old ways are dying, new ones being born.  Same true for our Loves. Curiosity awakens in the collective. Venus Retrograde In Gemini

 

On May 15th, Venus will go retrograde at 24 degrees Gemini. You can probably already sense something already.  A shift in perspective? Values? Your relationship? If so, its because the cycle has already begun.  We are in the Shadow period.  We entered it on April 11th when Venus was at 7 degrees of Gemini.  What is the shadow? It is the farthest back a planet will go in their retrograde motion.  When a planet moves into a Shadow, the premonitions of what is to come begin.  Subtle yet remaining profound.  So what is this Venus retro period all about? Karmic Alchemy is what I would call it.

Karmic Alchemy

 

When a planet goes retrograde its energies redirect.  This doesnt always mean inwards–though I feel the overall movement of energy does trigger deep reflection, its not necessarily just an inner celestial experiment.  As an example, if money has been sluggish, when Venus goes retrograde (depending on where in your chart etc…) the flow will switch; it will no longer be sluggish.  That would be the Taurean side of the Venusian coin.  In another example: If you are in a relationship, the energies will redirect and you will reflect deeply on the nature of your connection with your beloved.  Many times during Venus retro periods this meditation will be triggered by another person, another Soul who you can’t shake from your heart.  A fated and karmic connection. This is the Libran influence of the cycle.  Either way, it relates to Love and how it comes and goes.

Venus retrograde marks the beginning of a Venus cycle.  Its like a New Moon.  When she turns towards the Sun, she slowly begins to fall from her hypnotizing Evening Star position in the West and heads into the darkness–the Underworld phase as some would call it–soon to emerge days after as the Morning star in the East. This passage is called the Inferior conjunction in the cycle and relates to the birth of Venus and the Transit of Venus to the Sun you have probably heard about (I’ll talk more about this in future blogs).  As Venus heads towards the Sun in her retrograde fashion (respectively May 15th until June 6th) it is a powerful time for release.  Whether it be old habits or old lover’s, the immanence of this necessity will be blatantly obvious.  You won’t be able to ignore it.  It has a fated quality to it.  The Universe gains for control.  And so we must accept, continue to reflect, and watch it all unravel in its Divine perfection.  Always, years down the road, in retrospect we will be able to see the perfection.  Just not always while we are in it.

Now for the Alchemy part.  Old patterns die hard; as do profound relationships.  But what needs to be understood is that nothing is dying, it is just changing.  Energy cannot be created or destroyed.  It just changes forms.  Remembering that Venus relates to Love, Beauty, Symmetry and Balance, we can see deeper into the universal lovliness actually happening.  If we can fully remember and stay connected to our hearts during this cycle, unattached, watching, remembering what Love actually is, then we will have the capacity to evolve light years throughout the cycle; if we forget this, remain attached, and give our power to the things we love and the people we attach love too, it is likely misery will be knocking on your door.  So stand open, be alert for the signs, don’t ignore connections and most of all: “…wisdom in one sense, is the opposite of love. Love survives in us precisely because it isn`t wise.” A Koan!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Bigger picture

 

I am quite aware of my omission of much of this Venus cycle information.  I didn’t talk about the Transit of the Sun and its implications.  I didn’t mention the implications of her birth as a Morning star, nor did I talk about her stationary Direct implications and what happens once released from the whole cycle. Also, this particular Venus cycle has a special meaning to many cultures in the world, including the Maya.  I plan on exploring this with you too.  So stay tuned….and stay open to what/who awaits you in the blissful days to come.
