Capricorn Full moon 2012

“You’re off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting,
So… get on your way!”

…we all have an Inner mountain we are meant to climb.  There are no short cuts to the top.  We must endure the ascent, with all of its trials and tribulations.  The closer we get, the harder the Sun.  There will be wind, rain, cold & hot, and worst of all–our own minds we must endure.  Keep on.  Wherever you go, there you are–somewhere on that damn mountain…..(Saturn)…….

Reflections on this past Eclipse season….oOo

….the intention for this post is three-fold:

1. To rekindle the sacred mental fire, and begin blogging/podcasting again…

2. To better assist in processing these Eclipses….

3. To show how important Fixed Stars are in relation to Eclipses……

“i’ve lived all these lives
it’s been wonderful at night
i will live forever
you can’t keep me here…”

Eddie Vedder “Can’t keep”

We made it through.  The seeds of change have nestled themselves helplessly and hoping into the fertile infinitude of our mysterious Soul’s, and it begins–or simply continues.  Having just experienced the rare 3 Eclipses this Summer Solstice season (2 partial Solar Eclipses, and one Total Lunar Eclipse), many of us are left wondering: Whaaaat just happened….??!! Yes, its been intense, and many of us are still gathering the pieces, trying to figure out just how to put this whole jig back together.  But not to fret, the meaning is slowly revealing itself.  We just need patience.  In fact, it all comes back to Patience! Patience and Breath.  These two slippery verbs are all we need.  They have been the essence of what I have learned over the past month.  Just Patience and Breath!

June 1st, 2011: The partial Solar Eclipse in Gemini (11 degrees)

Probably the most interesting aspect in this Eclipse chart was the Trine to Saturn.  Saturn was still retrograde at the time, just about to station at 10 degrees Libra.  This Solar Eclipse trined it (120 degree aspect) by just a hair.  This means that Saturn brought both assistance to this “new beginning” and also some heavy Truth relating to our relationships.  I observed at least a half a dozen couples experience a moment of Truth on this day.  Something was revealed for them that either made or destroyed the current journey with each other.  I find this interesting, because the Eclipse was actually conjunct (together with) the fixed star Aldebaran, which is the Eye of the Bull, and is sometimes called the “Eye of the Buddha.” Here are some more words on Aldebaran:

Aldebaran has been in the sign Gemini since 1286 AD, just around the height of the Christian Crusades against Islam, an interesting indicator of conflict between two world schools of thought. Antares, for the other side in the conflict, went into religious Sagittarius in 1272 AD and showed its superiority, perhaps, since the Crusaders never did dislodge the Saracens. [The Living Stars, Dr. Eric Morse, p.36.]

and….:

Catastrophe by weather conditions, floods, shipwrecks. Acknowledged and leading position, but will make enemies through whom danger will threaten. Extraordinary energy. [Fixed Stars and Their Interpretation, Elsbeth Ebertin, 1928, p.30.]

…for me, this Eclipse stalled out my truck on the top of a mountain, forced me to hitch hike to town, where I auspiciously ran into 3 people, the last, being a magical woman, who gifted me a very special stone–literally, the moment of the Eclipse.  She gave me what she called ‘the Lightning stone.” It is a heavy, black stone that is formed from lightening striking the sand (funny, because there was plenty of lightening that particular night in the mtns….).  And so, I went home with the stone, and did some internal Qi Gong, listening to my headphones.  It brought out layers upon layers of heart stuff.  Lots of tears, tons of longing, and an over all feeling of unease is what I was left with.  I watched myself reaching for old love.  Love that cannot be experienced at this juncture in Time.  The gift was Melancholy.  The Eclipse happened just a few degrees away from my Mars: lessons of Desire! To see like the Buddha, into the root of all of our suffering: Desire!

June 15th, 2011: Total Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius(24 degrees):

This Eclipse wasn’t seen by anyone in North America, but it was definitely felt.  In our Astrology circle, the week before it occurred, we actually predicted the Boulder Creek to flood on the day of the eclipse because of the nature of the chart.  We were dead wrong.  There was another type of flood though in my opinion, and that was indeed the flood of Emotion.

The Eclipse happened in conjunction to the Fixed star Lesath, who is located on the tip of the Scorpion’s stinger in Scorpius. This relates to the ability to eliminate toxicity in our lives through death and rebirth.  In many ways, it is the essence, or the darker truth of the Archetype of Scorpio.  Here are a few more words on Lesath:

Of the nature of Mercury and Mars. It gives danger, desperation, immorality and malevolence, and is connected with acid poisons. [Robson*, p.173.]

In close conjunction with lambda Scorpio Shaula, both in the ‘Tail end of the Scorpion’, has a Mars nature blended with Mercurian influence. According to tradition, Lesath in conjunction with Mars, Uranus or Saturn, MC or Ascendant could point to danger from wild animals, either to be ripped up by them, massacred, or torn into pieces. This medieval interpretation is no longer correct in these days. At present, a configuration involving this star points to accidents, catastrophes, or operations. Corresponding to the sign Scorpio, this could work with appendicitis, appendectomy, or removing of hemorrhoids by operation. If associated with a benefic stellar body and if channeled in the right direction, there is the possibility that the energy associated with the Mars nature can make for marked achievements. [Fixed Stars and Their Interpretation, Elsbeth Ebertin, 1928, p.73.]

….for me, this Eclipse happened a degree away from my South node.  Meaning two things: I was experiencing a Nodal opposition (where the Dragon’s head finds its tail); And the Lunar Eclipse illuminating my karmic story (South Node)….. it was a day I got to experience the depths of my South Node story and patterns, and choose whether I want to change or not.  The first thing that happened: my heart was thrown in with the sharks.  I was dissed in a new way by a woman of my fancy that I had never experienced.  And again, the lesson was Patience and Breath! The day had its polarity to the loss and all time low, and it was insight! I was able to see in a way that I have never before.  I felt like I could see my Soul clearly, along with the path that it desires to follow.  For all of this, I am eternally grateful! Oh, Polarity…Pain & your Pleasure!

…and then there was yesterday:

July 1st, 2011: partial Solar Eclipse in Cancer (9 degrees):

Talked about by many Astrologer’s as not being that potent of an Eclipse, I couldn’t disagree more.  Ok, it wasn’t a Total eclipse, but the aspects it made in the moment of Eclipse were potent, as was the fact that it was the  first of a new series of Eclipses within what is called the Saros cycle, making it pretty darn important.  Each Saros cycle of Solar Eclipses reverberate and travel from pole to pole for nearly 1,300 years.  And this was the first one! Meaning, a thousand years from now, Astrologer’s will be looking back to yesterday’s Eclipse chart for meaning on how the following Eclipses are expressing the meaning and energy of yesterday’s chart.  The first Eclipse in a Saros cycle is said to carry its energy forth for the entire cycle.  So…you can’t understand a particular Eclipse without understanding its birth chart!

And then there are the aspects the Eclipse made yesterday.  The Sun/Moon in Cancer were squaring both Saturn and Uranus, and also opposing Pluto, completing the Grand Cross configuration we Astrologer’s have been commenting on for over a year now.  By looking at the Fixed star Alhena, which is what the Eclipse was conjunct with, we can better understand the nature of the energy of this first Eclipse of the series.  Here are a few words:

Alhena
Almeisan, the shining one Acute sensitivity, creative imagination, artistic skills, writing, injuries to feet

Artistic skills, especially with the written or spoken word and ability to negotiate a peaceful settlement in disputes.

There are three things interesting about this Star’s nature in relationship to the Eclipse chart:

1. “Peaceful settlement in dispute”: which relates to the Saturn square in the chart. Peace within our personal realtionships, but also on a political scale!

2. “creative imagination”: I heard from many yesterday–including myself–that their creativity was at an all time high.  Many breakthroughs were experienced yesterday! (all this relates to the nature of Uranus, squaring the Eclipse….)

3. “injuries to the feet”: Because this star is actually the left foot of Pollux–the evil twin to Castor in Gemini–is why it relates to the feet.  It is sometimes called the Achilles heel.  Injuries in general, especially stabs, lacerations, and punctures relate to Pluto! Again, Pluto opposed the Eclipse yesterday!

….all in one day: 1. the air was cleared in a dispute I have been a part of; 2. I had a major breakthrough with my music; 3. And I was attacked by a inch long peice of plastic hanging off a car speaker and it went deep deep under my left big toe nail = Pollox’s left foot and Pluto! (I hobbled around all day, like my Achille’s heel had been slashed!)

Pheff…..what a month! I’m glad you made it this far.  I apologize for my personal content of this blog, but I could think of no other way to process further some of this content.  But it applies to all of us.  If you keep a journal, go back to these days, and see what happened.  Reference again what I have written, and see if there is any correlation! Also, if you have your chart handy, you can look to where these Eclipses occured in your own chart, and see how that may have also played out.  Eclipses are meant to get us on the right road.  They are course correcters within our evolutionary journey.  They should never be feared, but  embraced.  The Dragon is always spinning…..

….if you would like to peek a little deeper into your own chart to see just how all of these Eclipses affected you, and will be for the next 6 months, please contact me at KOSMOGNOSIS@GMAIL.COM, and we can set up a time for a reading…..

The deep and scary Waters of the MOon: Pluto in the 4th

There is a sanskrit word which defines the moOn well: Mannas–or emotions + thoughts + mind = Ego.

ego |??g?|

noun ( pl. egos)

a person’s sense of self-esteem or self-importance : a boost to my ego.

• Psychoanalysis the part of the mind that mediates between the conscious and the unconscious and is responsible for reality testing and a sense of personal identity.

The moOn functions in very much the same way.  It is a relationship between our “conscious” emotional experience of reality, with the inner mysterious sea within. This is what some call “processing;” taking information and feelings from the world and experiencing them fully, until they disperse and are understood; this is what the mOOn does. Its always changing, no different than the tides, or the waters composing our bodies.  We are water, we are emotion.

Now, what happens when Pluto comes along and messes with the delicate balance, holdings it all together.  What happens when we are not blessed with the proper schooling on what it means to be an emotional being? What if our parents were fucked up!? Jeff Green illuminates:

Pluto in the Fourth House or Cancer. emotional trauma can occur to these individuals for the following causes:
1.Intense emotional, psychological and/or sexual abuse with their family of origin. This can generate a deep, wounded child who has failed to learn how to internalize the mother and/or father in such a way that when they are not present the individual’s sense of safety and security does not exist. This displaced emotional dynamic manifests in their adult lives in such a way as to recreate the early family dynamics in their adult relationships. This effectively creates a reality in which they project intense emotional demands upon their partners. Such partners will not be consistently available to them either. Emotional trauma can thus reoccur as the emotional demands and needs of the displaced inner child go cyclically unfulfilled.
2. When the very nature of their overall reality, how they have structured their lives, is threatened or destroyed: taken away against their wills. When this happens these individuals will experience a sense of emotional death, this experience being so total because the very essence of their emotional security, and sense of identity, is removed.
When Pluto transits the Fourth House, forms stressful aspects through transit to the Moon, or to the planetary ruler of the Fourth House, or to planets within the natal Fourth House, it can generate these issues and subsequent traumas.

The greatest gift Pluto can give is Death (both metaphorical and real).  A beautiful process it can be, full of agony and victory.  Here, with Pluto in relationship to our sense of intentity and core emotional security, the Death can feel total.  It is wise to have friends who understand this process; and if you arent so lucky, seek out a professional to attempt the exorcism of this emotional “demon.” Even seeing a Shaman could be a wise choice.  Essentially, there is an emotional trauma so deep and fundamental to what it means to be happy and content with life, that it is a good idea to take care of it–sooner than later.  Of course, its not the end of the world, but it is the end of “a world.” Once we have grokked our moOn, we then understand ourselves fully.  We are able to see our True Reflection within the True Continuation of Life and its evolving dance. When Pluto has completed its transformation with the lunar reality, the individual is liberated from their emotional hells.  They are able to see outside of themselves and deeply into others.  Its a potent signature for natural healers. Their compassion is so strong, that the wisdom living in the waters of their lunar nature heals.  But first, the Work.
