Exploring Astrology: Atunement
(Click Image to go to SHOW)
In this show I explore all of the planets in the sky in a way I have yet attempted. I talk about both the Personal and Collective implications for all of the transits that are currently happening. That is the first part of the show. Divided–of course–by music, in the 2nd half of the show we explore the chart of musician Nick Drake and take a peek into the transits of his death. Poor boy under a Northen sky….oOo
This is by far my longest show (just so you know before entering) I have ever done, but in the eyes of Saturn, my most comprehensive. I’m glad i could make Saturn smile in the making of it.
Hope you enjoy,

:::Phase 4:::“I decided it is better to scream. Silence is the real crime against humanity.” ~Nadezhda Mandelstam~
…a thought forms. Floating up like a bubble in a pot, this thought may be destined for reality…. The thought originated in an ancient text. One talking about a time when the Earth and the Goddess were revered. The thought bubble grows. Rubbing dust from finger and thought, the thought marinates, waiting for Jupiter to bless it with gentle manifesting grace….

“Our Expanding Universe” (June 11th-17th)
a Kosmic Weather report:
…..Feeling nostalgic, Mercury pulls out the photo album. Jupiter, existing on another wave length, is having gambling thoughts about updating his technology. Symbiotically, they work together, fusing a multidimensional alliance of memories and future forms. They discover the sacred quality of technology without ignoring its profanity. This is a time of “en-ligtenment”……..

Graced by Portals: Week of the 4th-10th of June
***Note: It seems these “Weekly Forecasts” are a big hit for many of you. For me, they are becoming a strange prophetic creation. I have mixed feelings. I don’t even remember writing what I write, yet when I go back to the days to reflect, my head starts spinning a bit. So, I am curious about any of your stories which have synced up perfectly with the daily forecasts. Wonderful. Thanks….and enjoy***

Monday: 4th
I can’t think of a better way to start a week, than with a Lunar Eclipse happening in the early hours of the day. At 4:12 am Pacific time, the MoOn will be accepting gravity and falling slowly from the Western skies, waiting eagerly (perhaps to get it over with) for the Earth to Eclipse the rays of the Sun from her face. (Lunar Eclipse) This is our exit from the Dragon hole. Remember, how on May 20th, when the Solar Eclipse happened, we entered the Dragon hole? Well, now, we are moving out. Sit deep with the lessons you have learned in the past two weeks. What happened on the day of the Solar Eclipse for you? What intentions did you make? How does it relate to today? We must also remember, Lunar Eclipses are Full Moon’s, meaning they relates to fruition, manifestation, and vital/emotional energies running high. Don’t get carried away with how you feel. Find an empty field to lay in, with birds and wild animals, and allow their vibration to infuse you, to heal you. The Eclipse is happening in Sagittarius after all, which relates to what Gary Synder calls “the Wilds.”

Tuesday: 5th
…day of the Venus Transit (Venus transit)
The Lunar cycle, like a wave of sound, rises to its crest, then falls into its trough. Today the mOon begins to wane–into its trough. The Lunar Eclipse was yesterday, the beginning of the end of this Lunation cycle. Bittersweet memories of the Dragon hole journey now need to be fully integrated into our lives. With the Moon moving into Capricorn today, passing over Pluto and naturally squaring Uranus, we realize that it is never over. Life too is like a wave, constant ups and come downs, creating the most beautiful music if only we step back and listen. There will be a feeling today of needing to reinforce the structure we have created in our lives. Desiring mastery of our “new self” (thanks to the Eclipses) there is a potential for being too hard on ourselves. Take a lesson from bamboo. Be strong, yet flexible. Dance with the winds of Ka–never breaking. Pluto and Uranus are testing us right now–esp. today–realize this, play their game, because its a “game changer.” They want us to grow–to evolve. Today we learn how to dance with them like spirals of DNA in a forest of bamboo. Catch me if you can.
Wednesday: 6th
Wake up. Shower. Do yoga. Make tea. Eat breakfast. Sing. Breathe. Go to work. Work. Stretch. Breathe. Errands. Lunch. Driving, biking, walking, running. Done with computer. With work. Dinner. Things to do. Emails. Messages. Calls. people. Love. Wind down. Yoga. Bath. Irie. Dream….oOo……Day sound familiar? Boom boom baddah booOm. Mars is the planet who gives us the energy and strength to make it through these days. All the planets have their function within them, but Mars allows us to stand, move, and have a will. The Capricorn Moon will trine Mars today who is in Virgo. It could be a busy day, and a productive one too! Just be aware of how you are affecting your surroundings throughout the day. The mOon will also square Saturn. Frustration. Karma. Restriction. Being that Saturn is still in LIbra, much of this restriction we may feel will come from other people. Don’t blame them, don’t project. Instead, realize that all problems you have with people are just problems that you have with yourself, you just can’t see it. Sit with this. Internalize your projections.
Thursday: 7th
They’ll look you in the eyes and stone you Then turn and disown you, don’t you let them take the fight outta you They’ll walk all over your name ’til they find someone else to blame, don’t let them take the fight outta you Secrets hide their lies inside hidden alibis, don’t let them take the fight outta you They put the world on a hook, it’s worse every time I look Don’t let them take the fight outta you
Ben Harper “Fight outta you”
We all must Individuate. Many of us are already on it; others unaware of the value of being weird, eccentric, unpredictable, electronic, brilliant, and “dangerous.” Aquarius & Uranus are the energies in us triggering this Promethean impulse to rebel and flip the bird. When the MoOn moves into Aquarius today, shortly after she will harmonize with the Nodes of the Moon (sextile/trine), triggering an important moment within this lunation. It will be an opportunity to fully realize the power of mind over matter. To see how objectivity can magically heal nearly all inner/outer tragedy. Whatever it is, “Don’t let them take the fight outta you.”
Friday: 8th
A day of Trines. In Astrology, the Trine Aspect relates to an “Elemental” harmony which exists between planets. When two points are 120 degrees apart, they are said to be Trine. This free flowing energy is much like an ability which comes naturally. “I’ve always been able to sing…” (Venus trine Mercury). Today, there are three important Trines worth mentioning:
- Mercury trine Neptune: the natural opening of flow of thoughts forms into the untamed abyss of the Imagination.
- Moon trine Sun (waning): the perfection of flow between masculine and feminine energies bringing the awareness of what we need to let go to feel more complete.
- Moon trine Venus: the opening of a Moonflower under unfathomable skies, alluring in the sexy night watchers
It’s gonna be a fantasy Friday.
Saturday: 9th
Waking in the wake of a faery tale Friday, the dream lingers like smoke in glass. The Moon continues its waning descent, moving into Pisces, making passes with both Neptune (the ruler of Pisces) and Hygiea. Dreams and healing. Did you know we dream 1/3 of our lives. Most people don’t even remember these dreams. And even those who do, they are just seemingly strange worlds we walk into every night when we sleep. What are dreams? What is the point? I feel the message Neptune/Hygiea are trying to get across is that dreams have the power to heal. In the dream world, our subconscious mind (Moon) projects symbols into personalized dreamscapes allowing this part of us to process our life experiences. And when we become lucid in our dreaming, it all can willfully shift. We become fully aware of how consciousness can be manipulated and how our entire experience of consciousness can be perpetually shifted with a switch and flick of the imagination. Essentially, the mantra for today is this: Life is but a dream. Q: When do we wake up?
Sunday: 10th
We all know somebody we can term the “Drama King/or Queen” of our lives. The drama I’m referring to is relationship drama. Ya know, the vicious cycles of pain/process/repeat. I have a rule with people like this: I only allow a story to be recycled 3 times. If the 4th tries to enter, I will politely say “please, shut the f***k up.” Lol…I kid. The Moon feels this way today. Passing over Chiron in Pisces, old stories, wounds, and fears will emerge, perhaps making us feel victimized or sorry for ourselves; Moon squaring Venus creates the obsession I was pointing too with drama and relationships. If you recognize any of these patterns in yourself on this particular Sunday, laugh at yourself, then watch a good drama. (I recommend “We bought a Zoo); the Moon also sextiles Pluto which gives us the shamanic ability to let some limiting factor in our psyche to be magically released and transformed in unicorn poo. The best compost for a healthy garden.

Venus transits the Sun: Musing
“The aim of art is to project an inner vision into the world, to state in aesthetic creation the deepest psychic and personal experiences of a human being. It is to enable those experiences to be intelligible and generally recognized within the total framework of an ideal world.” – Bruce Lee
art by Alex Grey
…the artist grabs his brush, the musician his instrument, the yogi his asana, and in a simple breath, ineffable potential of creative light ignites their imagination. The seed has been planted. The piece is already finished. The Muse inside dances the Nataraja……
Venus exists between the Earth and the Sun. Along with Mercury, making it possible for her to actually occult the Sun in special moments called Inferior conjunctions. We are on the precipice of one of these rarities. Next week, Venus will transit the Sun, thus creating a portal–or a beam–of sacred/solar/feminine energy which will infuse the Earth and all her inhabits with a unique message. A message of creative potential. Phi. Being in the Tropical sign of Gemini, occurring in the Sidereal (actual) Constellation of the Bull, the message relates to a rebirth of the Divine Feminine on the planet. This transit doesn’t happen every year, nor does it happen every decade. It just barely misses every century.
tech info:
On June 5 @ 15 Gemini – Venus Transits the Sun:
SPECS:
*Venus is at her top retrograde velocity
*she is cazimi or “in the heart of the Sun”
* Shes at perigee–closest to the Earth
* It is happening just after the Lunar Eclipse, also in Gemini (not too far away)
* The next Venus Transit does not happen until December 10, 2117
* Venus transiting the Sun happens in pairs; the first was on June 8th, 2004. This one completes the transmission.
* The last Venus transit that happened was between 1874 and 1882, meaning nobody alive today has experienced this.
****
These inferior conjunctions occur every 583.92 days, like clockwork. In fact, before the age of atomic clocks, the Venus cycle was the solar system’s premier time-keeper.
For a solar eclipse to occur, the Sun/Moon conjunction must occur close to the lunar nodes. It’s the same with Venus. It has nodes too and if the inferior Sun-Venus conjunction falls too far away from them, then Venus will be a little too high or low actually to cross the Sun’s face. The Venusian nodes are in Sagittarius-Gemini, so the occultation can now occur. We are in luck.

In Astrology, Venus rules over both Taurus and LIbra. Taurus relating to our senses, the earth, beautiful things, and all of our resources; Libra relating to the appreciation of these “things,” balance, symmetry, relationships, and mirrors. Everything you have ever been attracted too relates to Venus. It is the beauty to the lazy sway of a tree, the melting colors of a sunset, stunning humans, ecstatic sounds, smells, feelings and tastes. Venus gives us a reason to be alive. To relish in the human experience. .
One way of understanding this transit, is to realize that all of the manifestations of energy which Venus rules, are now in a re-evaluation period, being prepared for some kind of resurgence to their purpose and powers. As creative beings, unlike a hippopotamus, we have the ability to reflect, imagine, envision, fantasize, choose Love and CREATE!!!
Q’s:
Are you taking advantage of this divine human right? Are you creating beauty in your life?….If not, why not? If so, show….the world the grace of your sacred alignment with light and ignite us all with this Divine Venusian light!!!
Reading a blog on this topic by Eric Francis, I came across a concept I had never heard of, yet related perfectly to what I’m feeling and seeing about this Venus transit. He talked of erotic phantasms. Giordano Bruno termed this word, and it means: “erotic phantasms.” Eros – passion, desire, love/hate, Venus! — motivates and energizes phantasms – pictures of this-is-just-the-way-it-is, dreams, visualizations, ideas, world-view. Rudolf Steiner described the same dynamic, though with less colorful terms. “Erotic phantasms” are not to be banished — as in “do away with all desire” — but rather exist to be recognized and worked with actively.
(thanks Eric)

It is Creative Visualization. The realization that the willful creation of mental images can be fueled by your desire and purpose. Like coloring between the lines in a coloring book, we create sketches of what we want in our lives, what we want to become, and our imagination, the light of creation, simply fills in the blanks and soon makes it manifest. Erotic Phantasms!
This truth of the Universe isn’t new. We aren’t just stumbling into this psychedelic idea now. No no. on the contrary. We are remembering it. Collectively speaking. The notion of your thoughts creating your reality is going to be a multidimensional, transformational tool that will become more apparent to everyone.
Again, this transit is happening in Gemini. Gemini relates to language. Language is nothing more than sounds given meaning for images or “things” to help describe their forms. When our language mutates, so too does our reality. I feel this transit–along with the Eclipses in Gemini/Sag–have everything to do with a perceptual mutation happening not just to language, but to perception itself. The scope of our awareness is becoming omnidirectional and multidimensional.
…Creativity is an extension of the mind, as the staff is an extension of the body. Name your muse. Learn your spirit. Expand your body and mind to help better remember the True Divine….
Awake the Body
There are two important aspects Venus will make during this transit of the Sun. One too Mars in Virgo, the other too Chiron in Pisces– both squares. The nature of a square is challenge. Something comes up and we need to be present and strong enough to face the challenge and look the Dragon in the eye. Mars being in Virgo and having recently finished his own retrograde journey is desiring all of the right tools and modalities for the work that needs to be selflessly done. This means taking care of our bodies. Good diet, deep breathing, plentiful massage, needles, sound, wholeness, healing! Chiron has a similar message, yet slightly different. The crippled Centaur always relates to healing in one way or another. But when Chiron is in Pisces, it relates to the uncovering of what has been hidden; the washing up of our old garbage; the content we have stored away conveniently for lifetimes. Calmly, Chiron is pointing his archaic saber to the Hyades and Pleiades and telling us a tale. A story about where we come from. About the beings on those planets and what they can do. How they heal, communicate, relate, feel ….and make art. Chiron and his warrior protege (Mars) stand flanking Venus like guards at Destiny’s gate. Venus knows what she has to do. She must choose love and find her Inner Muse. She must create in order to heal.
“A man will treat a woman almost exactly the way he treats his own interior feminine. In fact, he hasn’t the ability to see a woman, objectively speaking, until he has made some kind of peace with his interior woman.”Robert Johnson
Sabian Symbol:
“A woman suffragist orating”
This is quite an interesting symbol, perhaps the woman is the Earth herself, demanding our collective attention. Suffragist derives from suffragette, which is a ‘female supporting the cause of a women’s right to vote’. Orating relates to Oratory, which is the art of formal public speech. This symbol suggests the image of a woman, demanding attention and focus through a formal verbal dialogue.
…see how these Sabian symbols relate? Aren’t they quaint? ~*~
An aside by Steven Forrest:
(taken from his latest newsletter):
What does it all signify? In practical astrology, the big themes of life are defined by the slow-moving outer plants, while the quick motions of Mercury, Venus, and Mars serve more as triggers for specific events. As we have seen, Venus forms an inferior conjunction with the Sun about every nineteen months. Obviously, to say that your “life is completely changed” every nineteen months is hyperbolic. But here, with our current transit-pair, we have a major Venus cycle that has over a century to develop depth and complexity of meaning. We are looking at something that hasn’t happened in the last four or five generations.
Our premise is that all humanity began a new relationship with Venus between 1874 and 1882, and that we are doing it again now. Plainly we need to stand back and take in the big picture to comprehend such a huge event. To get a taste of it, let’s focus on three classic Venusian categories: art, relationships, and “the Feminine.”
With Art, we hit paydirt right away. The period between 1874 and 1882 was extraordinary fertile artistically. In painting, artists such as Cezanne, Pissaro, Whistler, Manet, Renoir, Monet, Homer, and Rodin were in full flower. Musically, we had peak expressions from Rimsky-Korzakov, Tchaikovsky, Brahms, Moussorgsky, Verdi, Bizet, Wagner, Saint-Saens, Gilbert and Sullivan, and Bartok. That list is a Who’s Who, of course. Its significance lies in the fact that human art renewed its vision during this period.
Has something similar been occurring over the past eight years? Would we even know? It is a classic question of what the fish knows of the sea – we are in the midst of this present period, and we cannot yet see it clearly. Not all of these luminaries were recognized and celebrated during their lifetimes. The foundations of a new vision have been laid and we will watch the structures rise over the next century. I am not sure what it is, but I am sure it runs deeper than better digital delivery systems and 3-D glasses. Could it be video games? My younger friends tell me that there are worlds to be explored there, worlds that run much deeper than “first person shooter” pablum. What new novelists, poets, film makers, and graphic artists have arisen to be the “Last Names” of a century from now?
…or perhaps, visionary digital art and transcendental electronic music?
Feminism has a long, complex history and this is meant to be a short article! Let me cite one single, hugely symbolic event dating back to the last Venus transits. That was the passing of The Married Women’s Property Act in The United Kingdom in 1882. Essentially, this major legal event was the culmination of a long feminist struggle, and it reflected the changing nature of the relationship between men and women during this seminal Venusian period. Essentially, it allowed married women to control and own their own property.
It is interesting and concerning to me that we are currently experiencing so much backlash relative to the equality of women – the so-called “War on Women” is raging, and even issues such as equal pay and access to birth control are being debated. Will we step backwards and reverse the gains made by the brave women of the last Venus transits? I doubt it, but it is telling that these issue are “up” in the collective consciousness again. We are “reconsidering the Feminine.” Here of course I write as an American. In other parts of the world, for better and for worse, the roles of women are being re-framed as well. The pivotal female role in the Arab Spring movement is emblematic of all this.
Relating Venus strictly to females is, in my view, ultimately problematic. Men have Venus in their charts too! I believe that the obvious and practical associations between Venus and women in conventional astrological practice reflects cultural, rather than archetypal, realities. It ain’t permanent, in other words.
In this larger view, I would contemplate a wider perspective on various cultural changes cemented over the past eight years. High on the list is the fact that it is now OK to be gay – at least compared to the rampant prejudices of the past. There are still homophobes everywhere of course, but their ranks are thinning. To see this, simply contemplate the normalization of gayness on television shows, in film, and in popular music.
Perhaps even more deeply, I suggest that the past eight years have marked the beginning of a new cultural paradigm of human intimacy in general. As the old cliche goes, each generation imagines that it has invented sex. The joke is obvious, but the line also possesses an underlying reality. Each generation does indeed re-create the customs and assumptions that shape the ever-shifting meaning of “normal” sexual behavior. For one example, some say that marriage is fading as an institution. Certainly it is seen as increasingly “optional,” maybe even a little quaint. And that is a major change. Has this attitude taken root in the mainstream during past eight years? Today divorce and re-marriage tend to be at least halfway assumed as a norm rather than as a personal failure.
The age of the commitedly, happily non-celibate single person is emerging – and such a person represents a far more welcome dinner guest than he or she would have been in 1882! . Sexually confident, even sexually assertive, young women are everywhere – as are young men capable of saying, “thanks, but I don’t know you well enough yet.”
This is the beauty of astrology. These are changes we can only see and appreciate clearly if we sit on the astrological mountaintop. Without that century-wide perspective, we are too close to see the turning of the wheels. So perhaps we can recognize that the upcoming retrograde cycle of Venus is a special one. It completes something. Or, more accurately, it completes the foundation of something. And, going back to the title of this article, perhaps it does have a connection with your grandmother or your great-grandmother. And perhaps we must look through her eyes to fully appreciate its magnitude.
…Izzi: Every shadow no matter how deep is threatened by morning light.
~the Fountain
All is in flux. Cultural norms, taboos, sexuality, music, art, writing, style–and we can see this “flux” through the Astrological lens. Venus is only one cycle amogst the planetary gods but its an important one. On June 5th, when Venus transits the Sun–whether we acutely feel it or not–the planetary game is going to change in its relation to the Divine Feminine. We will appreciate beauty in a way we have long lost. Collectively, the scales will shift, and the Goddess will confidently re-emerge onto her throne, so that she can grace our world with her impossible beauty.
***Make sure you read my past blogs on this Venus cycle if you are into it and also listen to the interview I did with Adam Gainsburg on this very topic****
